Drop Drawers' catchy name didn't grab my attention at first, at least not enough to inspire me to download and test the software. But in my quest for more usable desktop space, I finally decided to give Drop Drawers a try. It was a wise decision.
I've long used Hover Bar and, more recently, A-Dock as efficient tools for easy application launching from the desktop, but until Drop Drawers I never found a satisfactory means to keep everything else within easy reach, especially when working on projects requiring quick access to a variety of related files.
Drop Drawers takes the standard desk analogy a leap ahead by letting you create drawers to store all the things you frequently usealiases, pictures, movies, sounds, styled text, URLs, email addresses, ad infinitum. When you need something, just open a drawer and whatever you need is there for moving, copying, or anything else you do with the files and bits of information.
You can create drawers as needed and name them, customize their look and feel, and even give them password-protection. Best of all, the drawers' tabs are inconspicuously placed along the edges of your monitor so that they devour almost no screen space. Or you can hide them entirely.
Drop Drawers is laden with features. If you have time to play, you'll be impressed by the extent to which you can customize and tweak. If you simply want to install and use the utility hassle-free, you can be up and running within a few minutes.
