Galeries Lafayette
Europe's largest department store |
|
Opened in 1896, with a lobby capped by an early-1900s stained-glass cupola classified as a historic monument, Galeries Lafayette is Europe's largest department store. This elegant department store carries top brands, including Chanel, Prada, Cartier, Louis Vuitton and Gaultier.
There's a wonderful lingerie department a new children concept store that takes up an entire floor, and a separate building for men. Restaurants, wine bars, a tea room and a huge gourmet food department. Two new attractions are an activewear boutique designed by Castelbajac, with the latest in sports equipment and fashions and a completely renovated cosmetics and perfume section offering 260 different brands.
The Galaries Lafayette is also for food lovers, and the Lafayette Gourmet foodhall does not disappoint. The hall has everything and more for the dedicated gourmand: a bakery with a dazzling array of specialist breads and pastries, reflecting France's continuing devotion to dough in all its forms; a matchless cheese counter selling top-quality French and overseas varieties.
Across the street is the new Lafayette Maison a home decorating shop with sophisticated furnishings. |

|
The Police is a rock band consisting of singer/bassist Sting (Gordon Sumner), guitarist Andy Summers, and drummer Stewart Copeland. The mere mention of their names is enough to get us all humming one of their innumerable hit songs: ‘Roxanne’, ‘Message in a bottle,’ ‘Every breath you take’, ‘Can’t stand losing you’, to name only a few.
The Police, formed in the thick of the punk revolution. The 1983 album Synchronicity was number one in the UK and the US and went Platinum eight times in the US. The band broke up in the mid-1980s but reunited in early 2007 with the announcement that they are undertaking a huge, international world tour dubbed The Police Reunion.
The Police is back in town in all the top venues for a massive world tour that kicked off in Canada in May. They will be in Paris on 29 and 30 September.
So if you’re dying to find out for yourself whether the trio still sounds as good as it used to, join The Police’s numerous Parisian fans at the Stade de France. |

Sans Sanz
Before, Before, Before..... |
|
Trashy deco: purple velvet sofas and wallpaper, old chairs with big leopard prints, gilded molds. The Sanz Sans offers two levels and a little restaurant corner where you can have a bite in comfortable chairs. Groove, hip hop and dance music. After a few margaritas, the rooms starts to swing.
The crowd is cosmopolitan, young, and friendly. DJs spin the disks, while the crowd enjoys the music and drinks. The bar staff have a great time dancing and banging the symbol lampshades. |
