ScanAlert's executive team combines a breadth of financial, entrepreneurial, and technical experience, plus considerable track records as Internet pioneers. Our founders previously launched some of the earliest and most successful web hosting and application service providers.

Ken Leonard, CEO

During Ken's three decades of entrepreneurship, he has created a series of successful technology companies, including the Video Graphics Corporation, Spectrum Electronics, AEA, and MeetChina.com. In 1995, Ken launched TABNet, a web hosting pioneer that grew to more than 150 employees and 100,000 customers before NTT/Verio acquired it in 1998. He currently serves on the boards of directors of Meet World Trade, GameWorld Technologies, D-achieve, PeerPC and OnMap. He also serves on the advisory board of Global Internet Ventures, an international venture capital investment fund, and is a member of the Information Systems Security Association. Ken studied medicine at the University of Vienna, Austria, and radio astronomy at the University of Florida.

Ben Tyler, CTO

Ben is the principal architect of ScanAlert's security auditing technology. He has held several key engineering positions with pioneering Internet companies where he has made significant contributions to their success. In 1998 he developed Infoseek's first automated advertising revenue tracking and accounting systems. As Senior Applications Engineer at Cybermoola he developed major Java and XML based e-commence and customer-care applications for the retail industry. Prior to joining the founding team of ScanAlert, as Senior Engineer for Meet World Trade, he was instrumental in developing an advanced secure cross-border trade application currently used by hundreds of companies worldwide. Ben is a member of the Computer Security Institute and moderates a well known online security discussion group.

Mick Doherty, COO

Mick has more than thirty years of experience in sales and marketing. In a 24-year securities industry career, he held a variety of increasingly senior positions, including a decade as a Limited Partner and Associate Director for Bear, Stearns & Co. Mick has developed a series of successful sales operations, most notably the web hosting industry's first direct sales department at TABNet, the world's largest domain name-based web hosting company prior to its 1998 acquisition by NTT/Verio. TABNet grew from five employees to more than 150 during his two-year tenure as its Vice President and Chief Sales Officer. He has also served as CEO and Director of Sales and Marketing for the web promotion firm ClickSpeed.com, Director of Business Development for Internet winery marketing firm FreeRun Technologies, and Chief Sales Officer for managed service provider ServOn, Inc. Mick was educated at Stanford and UC Berkeley, and holds an MBA from California Coast University.

Brett Oliphant, VP of Security Services

Brett is a widely recognized expert in computer security. He has published numerous papers in the areas of network based vulnerability detection, false positive mitigation and remediation strategies, as well as numerous vulnerability research articles. Brett leads the technical development of our vulnerability scanning technology, as well as managing our HACKER SAFE LABS research division. Prior to joining ScanAlert Brett served as the founding CTO of Security Profiling Inc. where he developed innovative security management technology including 6 patents involving patch management and vulnerability remediation strategies.

Rich Murphy, VP Enterprise Sales

Rich leads the team of professionals responsible for introducing HACKER SAFE certification to Fortune 1000 companies, and the worlds largest online merchants. By helping to ensure the success of ScanAlerts largest customers, Rich contributes to the companys rapid growth and excellent standard of service. Before joining ScanAlert, Rich was Vice President of Sales at InfoTran Systems, an enterprise applications software integration consultancy. Prior to InfoTran, he held various product management roles as part of a five-year tenure at Siebel Systems. Rich began his career as an intelligence analyst at the U.S. Department of States Bureau of Intelligence and Research. He has a bachelors degree in Foreign Service from the Pennsylvania State University and a masters degree in public affairs from Columbia University in New York.
