Venice Italy (Venezia) is a beautiful city of canals and palaces.  Built on an archipelago of 122 islands, this historic city has many interesting tourist attractions and museums. 

The Venetian islands are connected by a series of some 400 bridges.  St. Mark's Square is the centre of the city. Visitors can enjoy gondola rides along the Venetian canals.

 Popular attractions in Venice include Doge's Palace, the Rialto Bridge and Accademia (the city's best art museum).

There are many fine hotels and budget  accommodation in Venice and on the nearby mainland.  To travel between the Venetian islands, visitors can catch a motorized waterbus called a vaporetti.  These boats travel along the main canals of this historical city.
Two airports serve the Venice Italy area.  The Marco Polo Airport is the city's main airport which is located 12 km from the city by land and about 10 km by water.  The much smaller Venice Treviso Airport is the terminal for the European discount airlines.

Two train stations serve Venice Italy: Santa Lucia station on the main island and Venezia Mestre on the Italian mainland.
