The ministry's maintenance contractors
operate the Lower Mainland's provincial counterflow systems. These
systems help to keep traffic flowing in both directions during peak
weekday morning and afternoon periods. Counterflow timing varies
at the operators' discretion, based on traffic demand, visibility
and weather conditions
Target counterflow hours, Monday to Friday:
Lions Gate Bridge
- 6 a.m. - 9 a.m.
- 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
George Massey Tunnel
- 6 a.m. - 9 a.m.
- 3:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Pitt River Bridges
- 5:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
- 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
