Rogue River King Salmon fishing is Good!
8/29/07
Howdy Sports Fans, well the Rogue Fall run started good the fizzeled and now we are seeing great signs of improvments. My boat landed 2 out of 3 in a 3hr trip this morning one was 37# the other 41#. Lots of fish were being caught as we left. My clients said they had more pounds of fish than would fit in their cooler. Silvers are starting to show also and I had a fairly good evening fly fishing for 1/2 pounder Steelhead (1.5# to 2.5#) last evening in the Quosatina Campgroud on the lower Rogue. Hey I am glad to see the good signs, we can hope it holds.

It is early but don't tell the Rogue River Kings! Good catches are being had by guides. One boat on Friday the 5th landed 3 to 35 pounds and lost a fourth. My boat was out just the one day this week because I could not believe it could be any good hooked 5 and landed 4. To say I was pleasantly supprised would be an understatment. There were other fish landed by just the few private and guide boats on the bay. There were no more than 12 boats on the whole bay on Sunday. We only fished a half day trip for 5 hrs 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm and landed 4 nice fish. 2 were hatchery. On the 14th we will again be able to keep Wild Kings as well as hatchery fish. It time to get after them, we have dates open.

King Salmon Season begins soon on the Rogue River
Get ready, the Summer or Fall Kings are staging to enter the Rogue River Estuary. Trolling anchovies is the game for big King Salmon, the time is mid July through October. Look for a very good season with lots of Big Kings. There are some being caught already over 40#. Best bet will be mid July on however. The Rogue River is the first river on the coast to get a run of Summer or Fall Kings so this is the place to be, Gold Beach, Summer Salmon Fishing Capital of Oregon.

Elk & Sixes Rivers - report updated 4/12/2007
Elk River Hatchery Fishing Report 541-332-7025

Elk and Sixes are closed
The Elk and Sixes rivers will be open and fishable with fall rains which usually occur in October & November. When the rivers rise big Fall Chinook will be again present, look for Winter Steelhead after the 1st of January 2008. The Rogue River is the best bet until then!

Tillamook Bay - report updated 4/25/2007
TILLAMOOK BAY SPRINGER REPORT
TILLAMOOK BAY FISHING REPORT

River levels have dropped down to lower levels after dealing with above average flows for most of the winter. There are still some native steelhead entering the local rivers, with quite a few spawners heading back out to the deep blue, so please watch using diver and shrimp baits as you know the outbound fish will eat those shrimp whole and the mortality rate is quite high in the well intended release mode.
Rumors are starting to pass about a few Springer's showing in the ocean and bay as well as a few in the Trask and Wilson rivers.
This coming week we start hitting the water in search of the finest fish this area has to offer, damn the gas price, full Springer ahead,
See you on the water,

April is moving along and we getting ready for the first north coast Springer's to make there way into Tillamook bay and the local rivers, Hooks are sharpened and line is getting replaced thinking about the tremendous fight that the spring fish are known for. Rumors have it that a few of the first pilot fish in the run have been tagged and bagged, then taken home to be enjoyed as some of the best table fare for any Salmon available.
We are taking bookings now, the callers are very anxious to get and try there luck, As I am to be there guiding them!
See you on the water,
Tim Marshall
