very high success rate on in Prince William sound with many limits taken.. Trophy

These Sea
duck Hunting trips run 4 days all-inclusive with meals, lodging and 3-1/2 days
of fully guided hunts to include boats, blinds & decoys. We will meet you
at the airport in Valdez when you arrive and will transport you and your
gear to our near bye lodging. That afternoon we will go out and hunt
the sound for 4 hours. After returning
from the tour we will have
a
nice dinner and talk about the following days hunt. We have 2-4 hunters per
hunt out of Valdez. We will be utizing our Ron Bankes layout boat and
our 18ft custom duck boat.
Alaska Sea Duck Hunting Conditions
The Sea duck hunts all take
place during winter conditions
utilizing
snow camo patterns or standard
Camo depending on the weather and snow
conditions. Sea Duck Hunter should be prepared to hunt in temperatures that can
range from 0 to +40. All shotguns need to be completely
degreased with gun scrubber cleaner before hunting
this stop 95% of gun Jamming in these icy conditions. The legal federal
limit of Sea Ducks for
nonresident hunters is 20 birds per season total with no more
than 4 of any one species taken each year total including 4 Harlequin,
Oldsquaws,Goldeneye or Scoters. Each hunter can reasonably
expect 2-4
mature birds of each species with limits of Harlequin for the week
but stormy weather and unpredictable wind & Storms conditions can effect
Sea Duck hunting .
Alaska Sea Duck Hunting on Prince William Sound
The
sound is 30 miles long and has numerous points and nutrient rich
reefs that attract the Harlequin Sea ducks to this area
for winter-feeding. We have very good access to Princess sound and valdez
harbourt. The hunting areas
with short drives of 10-30
minutes from the Boat harbor with our
boats.
We don’t hunt on your last day unless we missed a day due to Alaska weather
conditions, as we need to pack up your Alaska Sea duck trophies and get your gear to
the airport by noon for the noon flight back to Anchorage. You will
arrive between 1-2pm at anchorage airport just in time for dinner
and You have the option to
stay over in Anchorage and leave 1st thing in the morning or catch a red eye
flight out that night around 11pm back home. Alaska Air and ERA fly
from anchorage to valdez 2-4 flights daily

The male
Alaska
harlequin Sea duck (Histrionicus histrionicus) is a
colorful, compact sea duck inhabiting Alaska's coasts for most of the
year. Island X holds one of the healthiest populations of
Harlequins and offers great hunting opportunity over decoys for our
hunters. Each hunter is allowed 4 harlequin per season included in there
total limit of 20 sea ducks total.

Weather at Valdez
TThe weather in
the gulf of Alaska is unpredictable and during the winter
Alaska sea duck season it can vary from freezing rain to high winds.
During Nov-Dec the average daily temperatures range from
25-30 degrees with a few real nice days reaching the mid
40's. So everyone should pack and dress accordingly in
layers of Polar fleece with a good rain and wind shell as
the outer layer. All Alaska Sea duck hunters should be prepared
mentally and physically to hunt in any weather conditions
from 0to +40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Please be aware
that unexpected storms can move through this area and
occasionaly will make our Sea duck hunting grounds unsafe due to
large waves and extreme tidal currents this will cause us to
cancel daily hunting trips.
Sea
Duck Hunting meals
The
guides will meet you for breakfast between 6-7am
main entrees include choice of:
pancakes, eggs, French toast, Belgian waffles and fresh
fruit daily. We also have cold cereals and oatmeal. On
hunting days, we pack up lunches to take in the boats with us
of hot soup and deli sandwiches,snacks. Dinner is your
responcibility at one of the local restaurants in Valdez.
The
Hunting day
Your hunting day
for Alaska sea ducks will start around 6am leaving the hotel
for breakfast
with your guide. The day will end,
returning to the boat harbor by Dark. Get cleaned up
and have a nice dinner around 6-7:00 p.m. After dinner you can
watch tv or chat with your guides about the following
days hunts or just
relax and have a cocktail and lounge around and tell stories. On day
4at the end of the hunt your departure day, we have a normal
breakfast you pack up and get ready for an afternoon departure and
Say good-bye to all your new friends, Guide gratuities of
10% are paid at the end of the trip to Staff in check or
cash. You will fly back to Anchorage Airport and check in
your luggage, catching a flight back to the lower 48 .

To book a Sea duck hunting
adventure with
Aleutian Island Waterfowlers we require a 50% deposit upon
confirming your dates all trips are booked through Alaska
Adventures our reservation company, the balance is due upon
arrival in Cash or Travelers Checks made payable directly to Aleutian Island Waterfowlers. Due to the the nature of these trips they are
non refundable unless we have to cancel them due to
acts of god. We strongly recommend travel insurance
to
protect yourself in case of emergency cancellations or
travel interuptions.
We cannot
be held responsible for flight or for any added
expenses occurred by you in Anchorage or missed flight going
home.
