August 28, 2007
Burlington, NC
A 3-week-old infant was abducted by his biological parents in an attempt to elude DSS from taking custody of their child. When it became clear that the parents had no intention of surrendering the child, an AMBER Alert was issued because the child was in imminent danger of harm. The parents and the child were at a Wal-Mart when the 5:00 pm news was broadcast and all the TV’s in Wal-Mart’s electronics department flashed their picture. They promptly surrendered the child, unharmed, to the Burlington City Police Department.  

August 21, 2007
Murrells Inlet, SC
Three children ages 8, 6, and 2 were abducted by their father, after the children’s mother rejected his attempt at reconciliation. The father was known to be a drug user and one of the children suffered from seizures and did not have medication. An AMBER Alert was quickly issued. A driver recognized the vehicle from the AMBER Alert and called 911. The children were safely rescued. 

August 20, 2007
San Bernardino, CA
Four children ages 7 months, 3, 4, and 6 years were abducted from their residence by their father, after he stabbed his ex-wife’s boyfriend to death. Following a murder and child abduction investigation, an AMBER Alert was issued. A motorist traveling on SR-210 observed the changeable message signs and subsequently observed the suspect vehicle. The motorist dialed 911 and followed the vehicle until California Highway Patrol units arrived on scene. Rancho Cucamonga Area CHP units located the vehicle and arrested the suspect. All 4 children were safely rescued.                      

August 1, 2007
Huntersville, NC
The biological mother of a 1-year-old boy took her child shopping unsupervised, violating her custody order. The mother had a history of drug use and had just been released from a drug rehabilitation facility 2 days prior. After two days of not being able to locate the mother, an AMBER Alert was issued. Within 5 hours, the Charlotte/Mecklenburg Police Department located the mother’s vehicle and a chase ensued.  The mother struck 2 police cars before being arrested. The child was safely rescued and returned to his biological father.

March 19, 2007
Altadena, CA
A 4-year-old child was taken by his non-custodial mother and another woman after they shot and killed the child’s uncle in his home in Altadena, California. The mother was a resident of Henderson, Nevada and was seen leaving the crime scene in a car with Nevada temporary plates. An AMBER Alert was issued in California. Investigators also requested an AMBER Alert activation in Nevada because they believed the suspect and her accomplice had taken the child back to the Henderson-Las Vegas area. After receiving several tips from the AMBER Alert, LASD, Las Vegas Metro and Henderson PD investigators located the suspects. They surrendered to authorities and released the child who was rescued unharmed.
