From: Strategic Planning Team

The draft NMEA Strategic Plan for 2008-2013 is now available your review and comment. Please take 10-20 minutes out of your busy schedule to peruse and comment on this document as it will guide the organization's activities for the next 5 years. We ask that you send your comments in via Survey Monkey. The survey will be open to the NMEA community through Friday November 2, 2007. We plan to address any comments received by then, revise the strategic plan as necessary, and put it to final board vote on 6 December so that the plan is in place for the start of the new year. If you have any problems accessing this survey, please contact Justine Glynn (justine@gmri.org).

Q. Where did the NMEA Bulletin Board go?

A. The Bulletin Board is no more, due to spam-related problems.

Q. Where can we post/read news and announcements now?

A. News and announcements of interest to the entire national marine education community can be posted to the Scuttlebutt email discussion list.

The National Marine Educators Association (NMEA) brings

together those interested in the study and enjoyment of the world of water--both fresh and salt. NMEA provides a valuable focus for marine and aquatic studies world-wide. We include professionals in:

  • Education
  • Science
  • Business
  • Government
  • Museums
  • Aquariums
  • Marine Research

NMEA Members receive two publications: CURRENT: The Journal of Marine Education and NMEA News .

Members receive a discount on fees at the national conference hosted annually by a regional chapter. At these meetings, marine educators from the U.S., Canada and other countries gather to exchange ideas, experiences and teaching techniques, discuss the latest research, and make and renew friendships and networks.

NMEA is affiliated with the National Science Teachers Association and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

  • NMEA: Making known the world of water, both fresh and salt.
