Attorney's Fees
All of our cases are handled on a contingent fee
basis.
A client pays no
attorney's fee
until and unless we produce a monetary recovery for that client.
This means that a client pays no attorney's fee until and
unless we produce a monetary recovery for that client. Recovery may be achieved by
settlement, arbitration award, or judgment by a jury or from a judge. The method by which
a recovery is obtained does not affect the fee a client pays.
Most non-workers' compensation cases are handled on a
one-third contingency fee basis. The primary exception is medical negligence cases, which
are handled on a sliding contingency fee scale which graduates down from one-third as the
amount of the recovery increases. Workers' compensation cases are handled on a 20%
contingency fee basis.
The attorney's fee does not include client costs, which are
the client's responsibility, although our firm will usually advance these costs during the
time the case is being handled. Client costs are out-of-pocket expenses that are incurred
on the client's particular case, for example, Court filing fees, Court Reporter
fees, and expert witness fees.
