| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Carlsbad, CA, USA - May 21, 2002 -
BioMed Central and ISI ResearchSoft announce a collaboration
to benefit the author community that speeds submissions, saves money,
and increases accuracy. Authors who submit articles formatted using
EndNote to BioMed Central's online publishing system will automatically
be entitled to a discounted rate for BioMed Central's article processing
charge, adding a further benefit to the hours saved by using EndNote
in their research and writing.
BioMed Central's system now automatically extracts the structured bibliographic details that EndNote (version 5 or later) adds to the Word manuscript. This speeds the processing time for the author's manuscript and reduces the amount of proofreading required to deliver the final published article. Details of BioMed Central's discounted processing charge for EndNote users are available here: http://www.biomedcentral.com/info/endnote.asp.
"Our aim is to make the publishing of research articles more efficient, giving more control to the authors," said Matthew Cockerill, Technical Director, BioMed Central. "EndNote-prepared manuscripts help us to deliver on speed and efficiency in the publishing process, bringing forward the desired future of large-scale open access to research papers."
"For
years authors have saved countless hours using EndNote, now publishers
are also able to benefit directly and accelerate their publication of
research," said David L. Kochalko, President, ISI ResearchSoft.
"With EndNote we are able to serve the needs of both the authoring
and the publishing communities."
