What an autumn we are having this year. Water levels are low for the time of year with very mild pleasant weather. Over recent days it's been getting cooler though with some night frosts, more typical for the time of year.  While the tourist angling season is largely over for this year, there are a few stragglers still about and those who are fishing are getting some good results. Lakes in the Strokestown and Longford area are still  ....

It has been very pleasant weather for the time of year and Pike anglers have been out and about fishing in local competitions and  pleasure fishing. Mark is a keen angler and was keen for his son Alex to catch a fish as it was his first time sea fishing, even though Alex is somewhat of an accomplished coarse angler. As I specialise in novice anglers it was a chance for me to show the lad how to deploy rubbi dubi to its greatest effect and how to bait up a cocktail bait to guarantee good fun and rod bending action. I concentrated on some  .....

GOOD MIXED SEA FISHING IN PLEASANT AUTUMN WEATHER

Luke Aston operating the Clare Dragoon out of Carrigaholt reports to October 3rd, 2007

I had a group of Dutch men in over the last 4 days and they enjoyed some very fine weather with light easterly winds and a light frost in the mornings. The fishing held up very well too. The Mackerel seem to have moved out of the estuary but are still plentiful from Loop head north. There seem to be an increase in  .....
