remote camps offering Alaska Duck hunting and Goose hunting in a
wilderness setting. Located 300
miles SW of Anchorage near King Salmon Alaska on Bristol Bay facing the
Aleutian Islands. We have been duck hunting and fishing these
remote areas of Alaska for the past 20 seasons, and are very excited to offer
these new duck hunting destinations during September and October. These packages will be based
out of our main lodge on the Alagnak River in Bristol Bay this offers our
guests a world class Alaska Duck hunting opportunity unmatched anywhere else in
the World that can include Geese, Widgeon, Teal, Pintails, Mallards,
Brant, Spoonbills, Sand Hill Cranes and Ptarmigan. If that isn't
enough you can catch Silver Salmon, Arctic Char, Arctic Grayling, Rainbow
Trout and Northern Pike all in the same week.

Geese, Ducks and
Brant for our guest's and have had
a very high success rate
combining
this
with fishing on the Alaska
 Peninsula.
The trophy salmon or Arctic char fishing tops off this truly remote
hunt of a life time.
You may
choose to
fish from our
main fishing lodge on the Alagnak river.
If you're tired of the same old boring lodge scene then this trip
is for you. Due to the
remote nature of these trips, and the often unpredictable weather, we recommend only well seasoned
fisherman or bird hunters take these trips.
These
duck hunting trips run 7 days all-inclusive with meals, lodging and 6 days
of fully guided hunting or fishing to include boats, blinds & decoys. We will meet you
at the airport when you arrive at King Salmon and
will transport you and your gear to the hunting camp. That afternoon
we will tour the
area for around 2 hours and check out our shore blind locations for
ducks working the area. After returning
from the tour we will have a nice dinner and talk about the following days
hunt. We have 4-6 duck hunters per week in this remote
location and we rotate daily between our shore blind locations and offer
near shore boat hunts over decoys for ducks when weather and
winds permit.
Alaska Duck Hunting Conditions
 The
Duck hunts all take
place during fall conditions utilizing standard Camo depending on the weather and water
conditions. Hunter should be prepared to hunt in temperatures that can
range from +30 to +60. All shotguns need to be completely
degreased with gun scrubber and cleaned daily this stop 95% of gun Jamming in these harsh
saltwater and
muddy conditions. Each hunter can reasonably expect to
shoot a mixed bag of divers and puddle ducks with Canadian geese and Brant
opportunities on each trip. Stormy weather and unpredictable wind &
tide conditions can effect
normal hunting conditions.
Alaska Duck Hunting Populations
The
Waterfowl populations in Bristol Bay Alaska have been holding at a steady rate for the past 15 years. The
entire
worlds population of Pacific
Black Brant come through before they head south to M exico. The population
averages between 160-180 thousand birds during September and early October. The
populations of Lesser and Taverner's Canadian Geese average between 120-140
thousand annually during the fall migration before they fly south at the
end of October. The overall duck
Population here is amazing and the Local biologist say it is one of the
healthiest and diverse in all of North America. There is a large
mix of Pintails, Mallards, Widgeon, Teal and Spoonbills with a small
population of Sea Ducks to include King Eiders, Pacific Eiders, Harlequin
and Scoters make Bristol Bay there winter home late in the season.
This puts the total waterfowl population over
100,000 in this
remote area.. On any given day you could see 10-20 thousand
birds in flight moving around the Bay heading south. The nicest thing about this area
is t hat the birds move daily from the saltwater Lagoons to the fresh water
ponds at high tide in search of fresh drinking Water and berries in the
fields one of their favorite foods. If you want to experience the best

Mobility is our key
to Alaska Duck Hunting Success
Successful Alaska duck
hunting depends on being mobile we accomplish this by running duck & goose
hunting trips in 3 separate prime locations on the Alaska Peninsula. We
rotate between our main lodge on the Alagnak River and our bay camp
located at the outlet of Kvichak bay and Bristol bay. We also set up
small temporary tent camps occasionally to be able to follow the
bird migrations down the Alaska Peninsula. We utilize 2 custom jetboats
1-21 ft inboard and 1-18ft outboard these give us the needed comfort and
safety of traveling along the local Bays and rivers while offering quality

Ptarmigan Hunting
Willow Ptarmigan (Lagopus lagopus)
are
found nearly everywhere in Alaska’s high, treeless country. Ptarmigan
hunting is fun. You never know what to expect from one trip to the next.
On opening day you tramp through colorful thickets of willow and dwarf
birch, your dog nosing coveys of brown birds out of the brush you top out
on a rocky ridge and suddenly find yourself surrounded by several hundred
stretch-necked, pinto-patterned ptarmigan. Ptarmigan hunting start the
middle of August and we run through October 30 we supply the camp the guides, dogs and all meals
and lodging for your stay. You are responsible
for your airfare from Anchorage to King Salmon and a
$150 charter flight to the camp along with your
guns, ammo and personnel hunting clothing .
General description: Ptarmigan look just like
small grouse, weighing from 10 1/2 ounces to 1 1/2 pounds
except that their toes are feathered, their wings are white
all year, and they have pure white body plumage in winter.
Below a scenic Ptarmigan hunting backdrop on the Alaska
Peninsula, Its not uncommon to bust 3-4 coveys of birds a
day in this wonderful landscape of the Aleutian Mountains.
Sand Hill Cranes
The sandhill crane (Grus canadensis) is Alaska's largest
game bird.
Range and distribution: There are two distinct groups of
sand hill cranes in Alaska. The more populous northern group breeds on
the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, in the Interior, and along coastal areas
throughout western and northern Alaska. These birds, along with others
from Siberia and Canada, form the Mid-continent Population of lesser
sandhill cranes that winters in Texas, the southwestern United States,
and Mexico. A smaller group, the Pacific Flyway Population, breeds in
the Bristol Bay lowlands, on the Alaska Peninsula, This group
winters in the Central Valley of California.
Hunting Management: There is a fall hunting season for
lesser sandhill cranes in Alaska, which corresponds with the regular
Alaska duck hunting and waterfowl season. Our Cranes are harvested conservatively as we allow
hunters to take 1 per year because these long-lived birds have a
naturally low reproductive rate. Cranes are highly valued birds whose
 spectacular
migrations and ancient manners provide a rare treat to people across
North America.
Sand hill cranes are a true trophy of the northern landscape during
September and October we hunt trophy Sand hill cranes over decoys and jump
shoot them as they stage up in the tidal flats along the lower Alagnak
River and Bristol bay each hunter is allowed to take 1 Trophy bird all
though it is common to see them only about 60% of our hunters actually
take them as they are very weary. We consider the Cranes as a bonus
Trophy.
Weather during our Alaska Duck hunts on the Peninsula
The weather in
this part of Alaska is unpredictable and during the fall duck season can vary from freezing rain to high winds.
During September the average daily temperatures range from
40-60 degrees with a few real nice days reaching the mid
70's. So everyone should pack and dress accordingly in
layers of Polar fleece with a good rain and wind shell as
the outer layer. All hunters should be prepared
mentally and physically to hunt in any weather conditions
from +30 to +70 degrees with wind and rain mixed
in as these hunts are conducted along the coast of the
Bering Sea and Bristol Bay. Expect it to be windy as the average year round wind
blows 10-12mph at King Salmon at the airport. But this doesn't
slow us down as we have gotten used to it and made
adjustments in our duck hunting techniques. Please be aware
that unexpected storms can move through this area and
occasionally will make our hunting grounds unsafe due to
large waves and extreme tidal currents this will cause us to
cancel daily hunting trips. On these days we will go fishing
or upland bird hunting for ptarmigan.
Alaska
Duck Hunting Travel Itinerary
You
will arrive in King Salmon via Peninsula Air on day 1. Here you will be welcomed at the Airport by
us and our courtesy van will transport you
and your luggage to our waiting float Plane charter or Jet
boat charter to one of our
remote lodge or camp locations.
The scenic 30 minute plane ride or 2 hour Jetboat trip from the airport to camp will
introduce you to the mighty Alaska Peninsula. The magnificent
land of tundra and lakes along the coastline of the
Bering Sea.
Meals at Camp
The staff will serve 3 meals daily with dinner between 6-7pm
this will give you time to
get settled in
and chat with the guides or walk down to the water. we
get up 1 hour before light when the kitchen opens for
breakfast. Breakfast is served at buffet
style or to order. We have a main entree of: pancakes, eggs,
French toast, Belgian waffles and fresh fruit daily. We also
have cold cereals and oatmeal. On nice days, we pack up
lunches to take in the boats with us and on bad weather days
we run back to camp to have a hot lunch.
The
Hunting day
Your Alaska duck hunting day will start around
first light leaving the camp
with your guide in your truck to go to the Points or the
boat ramp. The day will end,
returning to camp by Dark around 5:30 p.m. where you can get cleaned up
and have a nice dinner around 7:00 p.m. After dinner you can
watch tv or chat with your guides about the following
days hunts or just relax and have a cocktail and lounge
around camp and tell stories.
On day 6 your departure day, we have a normal breakfast pack
up and get ready for a 2pm departure and Say good-bye to all
your new friends, Guide gratuities of 10% are paid at the
end of the trip to Staff in check or cash. You will fly back
to Anchorage Airport and check in your luggage, catching a
flight back to the lower 48 .

Adventures our toll free reservation company at

Dec 1st and made payable directly to Aleutian Island
Waterfowlers. Due to the the nature of these trips they are
non refundable unless we have to cancel them due to
acts of god. We strongly recommend travel insurance to
protect yourself in case of emergency cancellations or
travel interuptions.
