The Peer-review Process

Information for Authors

General Dentistry, the peer-reviewed, scientific journal of the Academy of General Dentistry, invites submission of original clinical manuscripts that have not been published previously, or for which publication elsewhere is not pending.  

The peer-review process is used to establish the content validity and pertinence of each submitted manuscript. The publication of each manuscript is determined based on the reviews of a general dentist reviewer a specialist reviewer, the managing editor, and the editor of General Dentistry. The peer-review process may take up to two months.

Readership:  35,000+ general dentists

Content:  Articles (technique papers, clinical reports or findings, research reports or clinical or laboratory investigations, and case reports) cover the full range of procedures general dentists perform, as well as the popular Pharmacology, Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontics, and Dental Materials columns. 

Publication Frequency:  General Dentistry is published bi-monthly.
 
All manuscript submissions must be written in English and be five to fifteen pages in length. Electronic submissions are preferred, but faxed or mailed submissions are accepted. Step-by-step instructions are provided for your use.

When submitting a manuscript to General Dentistry, please include a signed copy of the copyright release form MS Word. You may e-mail the document to generaldentistry@agd.org or fax it to 312.335.3427.
