Auto-Graphics Expands Users’ Collections Exposure Through Participation
in the Open Archives Initiative (OAI) POMONA, CA. – March 29, 2007 -- Auto-Graphics, Inc. (OTCBB: AUGR) (Pink Sheets: AUGR), a technology innovator providing library automation solutions for over 35 years, today announced that AGent Digital Collections™, a web-based collection preservation and delivery solution, is compliant with the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH). The addition of this functionality allows for repository interoperability through OAIster, a popular and freely available union catalog of digital resources that last year experienced more than 625,000 search hits. Collection owners using AGent Digital Collections now have the opportunity to make their items public via OAIster, which provides a central search location for disparate digital collections from all over the world in an easy-to-use, searchable interface. OAIster provides access to over 11 million records from more than 750 contributors in order to serve as a one-stop shop for users interested in useful, academically-oriented digital resources. "Interoperability with other standards-based systems is at the heart of the AGent platform," commented Paul Cope, president of Auto-Graphics. "We are proud to offer a functional and affordable product that allows customers to quickly build and share digital collections, bringing significant value through the preservation of archival information." AGent Digital Collections provides immediate collection development and public display. Once a user logs in, digital files can be uploaded and cataloged in minutes using the simple data entry web form. An optional advanced metadata editing tool is also available for more experienced catalogers. Once the record is uploaded to the hosted server it becomes instantly available for public view. The collection can also be made universally available for searching via federated search products and as a Z39.50 target. About Auto-Graphics, Inc. # # # |
