There are many revenue channels available for a small business to generate revenue from its business website.  They include the following:

  1. Promote products and services online; Provide e-commerce functionality to complete the online transaction online 24/7
  2. Promote products and services online; Encourage visitors to visit your brick-and-mortar store to make purchases.
  3. Promote products and services online; Provide a phone number for visitors to call to make purchases
  4. Sell related products using a third-party advertising firm such as Google or Commission Junction (Google Adsence, Commission Junction)
  5. Create an online store in conjunction with an established third party such as Amazon (Amazon A-Store)

Although the e-commerce option (#1 above) requires specialized business web hosting functionality, none of the other revenue channels do require complicated web hosting functionality.
