JACQUEMART ANDRE MUSEUM - Paris

This sumptuous museum, was constructed by Edouard André in 1875. Owner of the Gazette des Beaux-Arts, a famous artistic journal of the time, and director of the Central Union of the Decorative Arts, EdouardAndré was one of the most ardent collectors of 18th century objects, particularly paintings, sculptures and furniture.
The collection contains sevreral Rembrandts and, best of all, fifteenth- and sixteenth-century Italian genius in the works of Bonicelli, Donatello, Mantegna and Uccello, Flemish work by Memling, Massysand Van Dyck, Dutch paintings by Rembrandt and Ruisdael, and French paintings by Lancret, Boucher, Fragonard and David. On the stairway is Tiepolo's fresco of the Reception of Henn III in Venice depicting a stupendous party.
Take a break with a cup of tea in Mme Jacquemart's high-ceilinged dining room, adorned with 18th-century tapestries. Salads, tarts, quiche lorraine, and Viennese pastries are served during museum hours.
This is the one museum that you must visit on a Monday where most museums are closed.
