Stratford evolved as a village back around the late 1850's. Stratford was originally the center of a huge furniture manufacturing region. When the Stratford Shakespearean Festival started it helped catapult Stratford into a big destination place. This annual event brings many theater seekers to the region which helps keep the Bed and Breakfast economy alive. The Stratford festival has seen many famous stars such as William Shatner and Christopher Plummer act on it's famous stages.
