Tour Description:

Day 1: Your ultimate Alaskan adventure begins in Anchorage with the Alaska Railroad. Climb aboard the Coastal Classic's 6:45am departure ready to enjoy one of the world's most scenic railroad journeys. From Anchorage the tracks head south following the scenic Seward Highway along Turnagain Arm. This glacial fjord is home to Beluga Whales, Dall Sheep and one of the largest tidal fluctuations that can exceed 30 feet. Turnagain Arm is also famous for it's bore tides. These tides can create 10 foot wall of water that extends the width of the fjord. From mud flat to mountain peak, the beauty of this area is spectacular. As the train climbs into the Kenai Mountains the views remain stellar. In this area the mountain peaks are covered in hanging glaciers and the slopes are blanketed in spruce and birch forests. This memorable journey concludes before noon in Seward.

Your guides meet you in Seward as you disembark the train. After gathering your belongings we head to the Resurrection Roadhouse for a hearty meal overlooking the Resurrection River valley. Lunch is followed by a short hike to the snout of Exit Glacier. This relaxed hike will give you an opportunity to get to know your guides and the rest of the trip participants.

Following our leisurely hike we'll cruise through Seward as we head towards Lowell Point and our oceanfront lodging at the AlaskaSaltwater Lodge. Your guides will prepare an Alaskan feast as you settle into your accomodations. Dessert on the deck overlooking Resurrection Bay completes a busy day.

Day 2: Awake to the sight and smell of the ocean. We'll enjoy an 8am seaside breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast your guides will assist you in a last minute gear check before our short drive to our hike. Lost Lake is one of southcentral Alaskas most spectacular hikes. From the shores of Kenai Lake we climb above treeline into alpine tundra. From the ridgetop there are spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. About 7 miles and an 1,800 foot elevation gain we find Lost Lake and our lakeside camp. Here you're guides will prepare a tasty and filling camp dinner to be enjoyed at this breathtaking locations. Following, enjoy the evening freetime to reflect, relax or stroll lakeside. As you fall asleep, listen carefully for the howl of coyotes or wolves.

Day 3: Morning brings an easier 8-mile hike as we follow the tundra ridge until Resurrection Bay comes into view. From here it is a gentle descent into the temperate rain forest and eventually the Lost Lake trailhead. You’ll be happy to hop into the van and head for a hot shower and cold beverage back at the Saltwater Lodge. After freshening up we’ll pack for our kayaking adventure and relax on the deck. Dinner this evening will be in Seward at Christo's Palace. Here we will enjoy a relaxed, social evening immersed in Seward's local atmosphere.

After loading onto our charter boat we head our for our Aialik Bay 3 day kayak/camping trip. By midday we will find ourselves paddling through bergy bits. This evening we have our final celebratory dinner at Ray's Waterfront Bar & Grill. Nestled alongside Seward's scenic small boat harbor, Ray's offers excellent fare with a view.
