- Carbon Catalog. Carbon offsets are a growing way for people and businesses to neutralize their contribution to global warming. Carbon Catalog is an independent directory of carbon offset projects and providers, launched in September 2007.
- Family Echo. Family Echo makes it easy to draw a family tree online and share it with relatives. The tree can include photos, contact details and links. Family Echo launched in March 2007 and is closing in on 1 million profiles.
- Web Sudoku. Sudoku is an international puzzle craze. Launched in 2005, Web Sudoku rapidly became the world's most popular Sudoku website, and is enjoyed by over 200,000 unique visitors daily. The site sells a number of Sudoku-related products.
- Copyscape. A plagiarism search engine which helps website owners find copies of their content online. Premium subscriptions are offered alongside free basic searches. Copyscape launched in 2004 and has served over a million webmasters worldwide.
- Google Alert. Launched in 2003, this service uses the Google API to track your interests online and email you when new pages are found. Free and premium subscriptions are available. Google Alert has received press from USA Today, the BBC and more.
- Sig Software. Macintosh shareware distributed and sold online since 1994. Products include Drop Drawers, Email Effects and NameCleaner. Sig Software's programs have received several awards and have been covered by TechTV, CNN and more.
I also advise a number of Internet companies on technology and strategy.
Education
- PhD Computer Science, Technion, specializing in bioinformatics. The ideas in my thesis were implemented in HaploBlock, which helps find the mutations which cause diseases by identifying block-like patterns of human genetic variation.
- MA Philosophy, King's College (University of London), with thesis on consciousness.
- MA Computer Science and Management Studies, Cambridge University.
