5 Insanely Useful Firefox Extensions for SEO
SEO can be a tedious and time intensive process, so anything that will make that job a bit easier is a true godsend. Luckily Firefox has a plethora of tools to do just that.
Not acquainted with Firefox yet? It's time to head over to Mozilla and download what may very well become you best online friend. It's secure, it's customizable, it's free and it will run on Windows, Linux or Mac. So you really can't go wrong.
Ok, without further ado, here is the list.
SEO for Firefox - This thing tops so many seo tools lists that I seriously risk sounding cliché here, but as anyone who has used it will tell you, it's a real must have.
The place where this tool really shines is competitive research. Just turn it on an do a search in Google or Yahoo and you will have easy access to the pr, age, back links, cache date, whois info and much, much more for all the pages listed in the results.

In addition to giving you that info within the search results page, you also have the option of getting it through a right click context menu from within the webpage you are on. This gives you the data you need to know why certain sites are performing well in the search engines.
SEO Link Analysis - Want more data when checking you links in Google Webmaster Tools, Yahoo! Site Explorer or Microsoft's Webmaster Portal? Then this is the extension for you. With it installed you will see PageRank for the linking page, the anchor text used, and whether or not the link is nofollowed.
Greasemonkey + Nofollow Display - Although SEO for Firefox can highlight nofollowed links when it's turned on, personally it's not my favorite for that task. If you're doing a lot of searches, and pulling all that data each time, the search engines might block your ip for a bit, and if the people in your office share your ip they may not appreciate having to fill in a captcha (to prove they are not a bot) each time they do a search. So you will want to usually leave it off. That means if you're on a page and want to see the nofollowed links highlighted then you have to turn it on and reload the page.
So what's the solution? Download the Greasemonkey extention and Joost's Nofollow Display script. There, problem solved.
LiveHTTPHeaders - Most SEOs at some point in time will have the experience of finding a server side redirect and wondering what kind of redirect it was. Was it a 301 or a 302? Rather than going to one of those HTTP header checker sites and typing in the url save yourself some time, just fire up the LiveHTTPHeaders extension and click the link again.
Now you have all the info you were looking for, plus a whole lot more. In fact for someone new to looking at header info it may be too much at first, but stick with it and you will soon fall in love with this little tool.
AI Roboform Toolbar - As a search engine marketer you will most likely end up with a ton of accounts all across the web. From bookmarking sites to webmaster forums, you will need login info for them all. Roboform along with the Roboform Firefox toolbar will make your life sooooo much easier. In addition to that, if you ever need to fill in forms repeatedly you can set up templates to speed that process up considerably. You can imagine how helpful that would be.
This short but sweet list will hopefully give you some new toys to play with the next time you dive into the world of SEO. I know I left out a bunch of awesome extensions though, so don't be shy, if you know some really usefully ones please share them in the comments.
