Transport

By Air:
There aren’t so many non-stop flights to Berlin from abroad, so depending on which airline you choose to fly with, a stopover in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Paris or London is quite likely. There are a total of three airports serving Berlin: Tegel, which mainly takes care of journeys inside Germany and to other parts of Europe; Schönefeld, operating international flights; and Berlin-Tempelhof, renowned for hosting Allied airlifts during the Berlin blockade of 1948-49 and nowadays serving as the primary hub for domestic flights and trips to Central Europe.

Getting from/to Airport:
All 3 of Berlin’s airports are accessible by railway or bus. Tegel connects with the Mitte district by the JetExpressBus TXL and the CityWest district by bus X9 or 109. Schönefeld can be reached via an Airport Express train from Zoo station, or the slower S9 from Zoo station. Tempelhof receives the U6 line and also bus 119 from Kurfürstendamm via Kreuzberg.

Bus, Train, Car:
You can get to Berlin from almost anywhere in Europe on a long-distance bus trip. Most of these buses come to the Omnibusbahnhof am Funkturm in Charlottenburg.

Taking a train is also possible. The German railway system enjoys a reputation for being the most efficient on the continent. However, due to the extensive construction happening around town, several stations might be affected during your trip, and confusion can be unavoidable, with trains getting suddenly rerouted from one station to another.
