Leeds is the second largest metropolitan district in the UK and lies at the very heart of the country, midway between London and Edinburgh. Two thirds of Leeds is Green Belt, comprising some of the most beautiful scenery in the county of Yorkshire.

The city itself is made up of new and refurbished theatres, shopping malls, hotels, galleries, cafe bars and award-winning architecture. It has transformed its once neglected waterfront into a chic dining quarter and booming visitor attraction with a range of international eateries including several internationally recognised restaurants.

The West Yorkshire Playhouse boasts some of the best theatre facilities outside of London whilst golf, tennis, cricket and rugby players are also generously accommodated by the excellent sports facilities.

Leeds Metropolitan University Gallery holds a permanent collection of art, with particular emphasis on the last 200 years of British history. The permanent collection in itself is well worth a visit. In addition, the gallery hosts regular temporary exhibitions of contemporary art.

Horsforth Village Museum is a living relic. This old building displays old exhibits in a very old-fashioned way being both eccentric and educational. Horsforth is a large village and the museum reflects its personal history - strong in the Victorian, Georgian and Edwardian periods.
