Celtibillies.
Appalachia meets Ireland meets Alaska when the Celtibillies come to Seldovia.
Native to southwest Virginia, these musicians began as a contradance band, then expanded to old-time traditional Celtic and Appalachian music. The band features Becky Barlow on hammered dulcimer, keyboard and bodhran, Jack Hinshelwood on fiddle and guitar, Tim Sauls on banjo, bouzouki and guitar, and Jeff Hofmann on bass. This will be a high energy performance of duet vocal arrangements and spirited jigs, reels, waltzes and breakdowns.

2nd ANNUAL BEACH POETRY GATHERING
Sponsored By Fireweed Gallery:
The Essence of Art in Homer Capture the beauty of Homer’s ever-changing landscapes through poetry. Join Homer writer and photographer Christina Whiting at the Homer Chamber of Commerce at 11am on Saturday, August 16th. You’ll write poetry that reflects your relationship with nature (or whatever else you’re moved to write about) and then gather on Bishops Beach at 1pm to transfer your poems on to beach rocks. Beach poetry will be laid out on display and photographed as the incoming tide takes your words out to sea. High tide is at 3:37 pm. This free event is open to all of writing age, and all supplies are provided. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. Contact Fireweed Gallery at 235-3411 to register and with any questions.
