2005-2008 Transportation Plan and 10-Year Outlook. Since 2003, TransLink has made significant progress on delivering its $4-billion expansion program, creating the roads, bridges, rapid transit and bus service improvements in Metro Vancouver that will improve travel times, and promote a robust economy and sustainable environment. TransLink is delivering projects on time and on budget. Here are some of the major milestones achieved:
Expanding Rapid Transit Work is underway on the Canada Line, an automated rapid-transit line that will link Vancouver, Richmond and the Vancouver International Airport, adding capacity equivalent to 10 road lanes. The Province and TransLink released the business case for the rapid transit Evergreen Line, and confirmed advanced light rapid transit (ALRT or SkyTrain-like technology) as the recommended technology. |
Building Roads and Bridges Work is also underway on the Golden Ears Bridge that will connect Langley/Surrey and Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows, opening in 2009. The expanded Dollarton Bridge opened in the District of North Vancouver. Widening of the Fraser Highway in Surrey continued and we started work on the 204th Street Overpass in the City of Langley. more |
