Security
Security is a primary concern for FatPort. While wireless connections are inherently insecure,
we are working with industry to develop better security methods. There are some risks associated with any
transmission of data, either over a wired or a wireless network, but you can take steps to
minimize those risks.
This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the
information under our control. All servers are in a secure data centre with 24 hour
security access control. All data submitted to the site . your password and credit card
information, is done via a 128 bit secure server verified by Thawte. This is the same
level of security that the Bank's websites use.
Unless you take steps to the contrary, you are not operating on a secure link when you are
checking email, surfing the internet, or accessing company files. Surfing websites that are
encrypted (for example, the banks' websites) is just as safe as over a wired connection.
Steps you can take to
avoid compromise include installing a Virtual Private Network, or VPN, and by using
email encryption. If your company is concerned about the integrity of its data, it
probably already has some of these security measures in place and which are usually compatible
with the FatPort network. Contact your IT department or security@fatport.com for further
information.
