The Parks and Recreation Division of Public Works maintains:

  •  all of the City's parks, playgrounds, campgrounds, cemetery facilities and public restrooms. 

  •  monitors the parking and collects the parking fees at the Homer Airport.

  • 18 Parks and Trails ~ 5.11 miles.

  • 4 Playfields

  • 2 Campgrounds

  • 2 Cemeteries

In addition, this division administers the Homer Beautification Project - maintaining the flower gardens, grass mowing, clean up and improvement coordination, campground fee collection, dump station and restroom management. This beautification work is accomplished with the help and support of volunteers, local businesses and organizations.

CAMPING FEES  (The following fees have been set by legislative enactments, Resolutions 99-94, 93-35, 91-34 and; 91-20(s),5-05) 

RV ~ Motorhome

$15/day (All City Camping Areas)  
14 calendar days $189 (If paid in advance) 
All other camping (tents) $8/day 
14 calendar days $100

All fees inclusive of sales tax.

The City Parks are available for private parties or special events however they must be scheduled in advance with the Parks Coordinator by calling 235-3170. There is no fee for scheduled day use of any City park.

The City Campgrounds are open for camping from April 1 ~ October 31 (unless weather forces early closure).

  • We do not take reservations for camping sites.
  • We do not have "full hook-up" sites.
  • We do not provide shower or laundry facilities (Showers are available at the Laundromats in the Homer area.)

During the busy summer season, the Camp Fee Collection Cabin is open on the Homer Spit where you may register and pre-pay your camping fees.

You may self- register at the drop boxes provided at the camping areas. We also have Parks Personnel monitoring the camping areas and they will register/collect the fees also.

There are two RV Dumping Stations operated by the City. 

  • One located on the Homer Spit by the Fishing Lagoon Restrooms.

  • One in town on the Homer Bypass by the Public Works building @ 3575 Heath St.

  • A drop box is available for you to deposit the $2 Dump Fee.

Potable water is available at these locations for filling your drinking water tanks. It is not a location for washing your Recreational Vehicle or Boat.

There is no free camping within the Homer City Limits.
