Lamiglas Debuts 32 New Technique-Specific Rods For 2009

Woodland, Wa: With three completely new rod series, and targeted expansion of existing lines, Lamiglas introduced 32 new technique-specific rods to the fishing tackle industry at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. “It’s what we do,” said John Posey National Sales Manager for Lamiglas, “We work with the finest anglers in the country, identify emerging fisheries and techniques, and develop rods specific to their needs.” The 32 new models include new additions to all of Lamiglas’ core markets: fly, salmon/steelhead, bass, freshwater, surf and saltwater. An overview of the new Lamiglas models includes:

Fly Rods
XMG 50
Constructed from our proprietary XMG 50 graphite, a new 12-weight joins this extra-fast action rod family. XMG 50 fly rods generate incredible line speed for superior distance. The new 12-weight features a custom aluminum reel seat, fighting butt and fore grip.

Salmon Steelhead Rods

XMG 50
With casting ratings of 1/4- to 5/8-ounce the new XMG 92 M and cork handled XMG 92 M-C are potentially the sweetest casting rods in XMG 50 lineup. Rated for 8- to 15-pound line, and constructed with extra-fast actions, this is an incredibly impressive drift fishing rod. Choose the graphite handle to maximize the experience, or the cork should you prefer it.

Certified Pro
Certified Pro rods have been home to exceptional jig, float, spoon, and magnum taper rods for decades. What the line did not have was a timeless nine-foot drift rod for anglers to carry for steelhead, silver and smaller chinook salmon. The X 90 MC, at 9-feet in length and rated for 8- to 15-pound line, adds core function to the selection in a rod that everyone should own two of.

Classic Glass
We never overlook the smallest of our favorite salmon, the Kokanee. The new CG 70 DR., a two-piece 7-footer, adds an exceptional downrigger Kokanee rod to this value-laden series. Additionally, the CG 86 MHS adds the first spinning rod to the line for anglers more comfortable handling a spinning reel than casting reel.

Bass Rods
Certified Pro
Unique fiber blends provide the XCC 724 and XCC 725 the premium action of our Certified Pro Fiberglass crankbait rods, with the added benefits of lighter weight and smaller diameter blanks. They’re easier to handle, quicker on the cast and more enjoyable in the hand, while maintaining the superior function our pros count on to win tournaments.

Freshwater Rods
Musky Series
The new LGM 90 H is a serious power-trolling rod, developed in concert with touring professional anglers. Deployed straight out the side of the boat, the rod is used in pairs to cover a wide swath of available water. Incredible inherent strength delivers a powerful hook set. The LGM 90 H is constructed in a single piece and rated for 15- to 30-pound line.

Surf Rods
Super Surf
When you’re ahead of the pack, keep your eyes forward and press on. Last year we introduced the Super Surf Series that have taken the high-performance surf market by storm.  This year, in addition to a new casting model, the SS 101 MHC, we’ve introduced an interchangeable handle system in six new rods to add even more function to the best surf rods made.  (See Full Release)

Ron Arra Surf Pro
The XSRA 1205 has been a fantastic performer on larger fish.  The new XSRA 1205-2 offers equally impressive performance in a 2-piece rod for easier travel.

Graphite Surf & Jetty
Two new rods enter the Graphite Surf & Jetty line up.  The XS 1061 PP, at 10’6” in length and rated for 1- to 4-ounces, is a one-piece pencil popper rod designed to impart maximum action on these productive lures. The XS 12 MHC is a much requested two-piece 12-footer rated for 6- to 16-ounces, and the longest rod in this powerhouse line-up.

Big Bang Heavers
We’ve built the blanks for decades, and now we’re releasing the rods. The two rods feature the same 13’ 10” action constructed in either 1- or 2-pieces.  Rated to cast a full 6- to 16-ounces these are not rods for the timid.  Directed at the Columbia River Sturgeon fishery where their rope-wrapped grips are the norm, they’ll excel wherever big leads need to go airborne for substantial distances. (See Full Release)

Surf Lite
Many delicacies found in the surf line are of the smaller variety.  Surf Lites target smaller fish like Southern California’s Corvina with balance and precision in what amounts to a finesse fishery.  Three models, each rated for 6- to 12-pound line and 7’6”, 8’ or 8’6” in length are matched perfectly to the conditions and size of the quarry.

Saltwater
Tropic Pro Jigging & Popping
The all-new TP 8040 SP adds increased precision to the Tropic Pro popping rods.  Falling between the 7’ 30-pound and 8’6” 50-pound model, this 8’, two-piece 40-pound rod allows you to choose the exact rod to balance lure and fish sizes with conditions.

Indian River Signature Series
Captains Jim Ross and Russ Rivers of Indian River Fishing Academy in Florida tasked us with building them the ultimate light tackle rods. Seven new rods are the result.  Incorporating Texalium rod blanks with Texalium handles, these fast action rods have become what
Captain Ross calls simply, “The most sensitive rods I’ve ever fished.” (See Full Release)

Lamiglas Takes To The Launch Pad With 13’10” Big Bang Heavers.

Woodland, WA: Crafted to launch 6- to 16-ounces of weight exceptional distances, Lamiglas’ newly introduced Big Bang Heavers are not for the faint of heart. For savvy anglers, however, they’re just the ticket for big water and big fish.

Big Bang Heavers include two 13’10” casting models, rated for 20- to 50-pound line that share identical features with exception of either one- or two-piece construction. The fiberglass blanks have been in production for many years, primarily serving custom builders focused on the bank fishery for Columbia River sturgeon in Oregon and Washington and river catfish below dams throughout the Eastern United States. These fisheries contend with large waters, powerful currents and difficult shorelines, placing severe demands upon equipment. It takes exceptional casting distance and heavy weight to be successful. On both accords, Big Bang Heavers deliver.

The rod’s construction are tailored to demanding environments like the Columbia, where rocky river banks demand function over form. Rope-wrapped handles provide a secure grip within a casting stroke that may include a pound of lead. The rope wraps also deliver longwearing durability in tough environments. Dependable Fuji guides are double wrapped for strength

While the Columbia River is the inspiration for Big Bang Heavers, their function extends much further. Hawaii’s ulua fishery, Outer Banks drum, and beach-based shark fisheries throughout warm waters will appreciate the big fish capability of Big Bang Heavers.

LAMIGLAS JOINS WITH JIM ROSS AND RUSS RIVERS IN DEVELOPMENT

OF INDIAN RIVER SIGNATURE SERIES.

Woodland, WA: Captains Jim Ross and Russ Rivers of Florida’s Indian River Fishing Academy came to Lamiglas seeking the ultimate light tackle rods. The relationship has culminated in the release of Indian River Signature Series rods, dubbed by Jim Ross as, “the most sensitive rods I’ve ever fished.”

The Indian River Signature Series includes five spinning and two casting models from 7- to 7.5-feet in length and balanced to fish from 6- to 17-pound line. The rods feature fast actions for superior performance with artificial lures. At the core of their design are the blanks: a blend of high modulus fibers that transition to Texalium in the butt section. Texalium is an aluminum-impregnated fiber that’s incredibly sensitive while remaining exceptionally durable. The blanks telegraph the subtlest strikes. In fact, the captains have reported that in stained water they can feel the push of water that precedes the strike as the fish rushes the bait.

Instead of dampening the blank’s inherent sensitivity with cork or EVA grips, the Indian River Series maximize it. Their design eliminates the fore grip and utilizes Texalium as the rear grip material. In this manner, every bit of available information that reaches the rod tip is near-seamlessly transmitted to the angler’s hand with a minimum of interference.

Within their guiding business, Captains Ross and Rivers note that as angler recognition of the subtleties involved in artificial lure presentations has increased, so too has their success. And overall, the pleasure involved with fishing and fighting fish with responsive rods has increased the angler’s quality of the experience immensely.

Indian River Series rods will debut at the ICAST show in Las Vegas, Nevada this July.

Lamiglas Introduces Interchangeable Handle Technology To Super Surf Rods.

Woodland, WA: One year after Lamiglas released the Super Surf series, their most advanced high-performance surf rods ever, they’ve continued to push technology forward with a selection of six models featuring interchangeable handles. The new models deliver one-piece rod performance, easy transport and a custom fit for angler and technique.

At the core of the six new Super Surf models are two rods, each with three interchangeable handles. The shorter and lighter blade, rated for 2- to 6-ounces casting weight, is 87-inches in length. It can be purchased with handle lengths of 33-, 38-, or 42- inches (42-inch model is all cork tape design) for a finished rod length of 10’, 10’5” and 10’8” respectively. The second blade, rated for 4- to 8-ounces casting weight, is 99-inches in length. It can be purchased with handle lengths of 33-, 38- or 42-inches in (42-inch handle is all cork tape design) for a finished rod length of 11’, 11’5” and 11’8” respectively.

The interchangeable handle designs are aimed at custom fitting the angler,” said John Posey, Lamiglas National Sales Manager, “In concert with the blades, anglers can perfectly fit the rod to their specific body size, casting mechanics, and fishing techniques.” Anglers who begin with a longer handle focused on bait applications can purchase a shorter handle at a later date for working poppers. A shorter or taller angler can purchase the same desirable rod action, yet choose different handles to fit them most comfortably.

The tip-over-butt connection that joins handle to blade is located immediately forward of the handle. Its location provides one-piece rod performance with the added benefit easy portability. “We’ve pushed the conventional wisdom that ferrules need be placed in the middle of the rods,” said Posey, “In doing so we get the premium one-piece feel that’ll fit inside a car for transport or store conveniently.”

The interchangeable handle designs are constructed of the same superior blend of intermediate and high modulus graphite of the complete Super Surf Series. Their lightweight handling and effortless action are built specifically to perform in concert with today’s superbraids. All Super Surf rods feature Fuji Alconite Concept guides affixed with both over- and under-wraps for a custom-quality build.
