Senior Application Developer

Location: Honolulu, HI

General Summary
The Senior Application Developer role is to support, customize, and maintain PLNI` suite of applications. This position is responsible for the companies Intranet and Internet websites, with a primary focus on Internet Online information processing systems. Maintains and provides ongoing development of websites and web based applications including the development of internal applications and solutions. This person works with team and as an individual to create custom database and data warehouse solutions. The applicant must have project management skills to be able to lead developmental projects. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Must be available for On-call work in the support of system outages.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Application Developer role is responsible for, but not limited to:
1. To support and maintain PLNI` suite of applications.
2. Be a single point of contact for our application vendors.
3. Identify, isolate application errors, and test once the error is fixed.
4. Collect business requirements for new products and features.
5. Generate reports, using canned reports as well as custom reports.
6. Understand all phases of the company and modify the applications to fit the business unit, not the other way around.
7. Identify the interdependencies between the various business units and create processes and/or automation tools.
8. Be a Project manager for various projects across the company.
9. Data mine information and present it in a way that the end user can understand it.
10. Develop internal company database and web applications.
11. Developing and maintaining the company` portals and websites.
12. Create internal web based applications for the enhancement or integration of existing systems.
13. Perform backup and ensure user accessibility to the site.
14. Monitors site traffic and helps scale site capacity to meet traffic demands.
15. Serve as a technical resource for various projects.
16. Creating and maintaining technical documentation.
17. Investigate, trouble shoot, and follow through Tier III trouble-ticket escalation.
18. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility:  None

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelors in IT, Computer software, or related field
2. Database administration skills and knowledge of RDBMS
3. Skilled working with MS SQL Server and MYSQL
4. Experience with MS Access databases utilizing VB
5. Experience with SQL Queries, Stored Procedures, Triggers, and Views
6. Web Development Experience.
7. Application programming background
8. Working knowledge of current web markup or scripting languages: HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, VB Script, C#, ASP, .Net, and PHP. Use case and wire frame skills required
9. Excellent written and verbal skills
10. Business requirements gathering
11. Project management experience
12. Self-starter, independent thinker

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Masters in Computer Information Systems or related field
2. Data Warehouse Experience
3. Knowledge of QA testing practices
4. Middleware knowledge
5. Excellent knowledge in MS Office suite of tools
6. Expert knowledge of XML, ASP, ASP.NET, PHP, Java Script, VB Script, C#
7. Experience programming in Lotus Notes applications
8. Working knowledge with UNIX commands and utilities.
9. Expert knowledge of networking technologies, including security and encryption on the Internet, and basic networking concepts
10. Experience with two or more desktop publishing/imaging applications
     Photo Editing (Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro)
     Drawing (Macromedia Freehand, Illustrator, Corel Draw)
     Page Layout (Adobe PageMaker)
     Presentation (MS PowerPoint)
     Multimedia (Macromedia Director, Flash, Streaming audio and video)
     Others (Adobe distiller/Exchange, GifBuilder, GibConverter, 3ds Max, etc.)
