Ranger-guided programs at Keweenaw National Historical Park have ended for the 2008 season. Below are program descriptions to help you in future trip planning. Programs normally begin in late June and run through the end of August.
 
Calumet Walking Tour
Explore the former Calumet & Hecla Copper Mining Company’s industrial area and downtown Calumet’s historic business district. 1.5 hours, 1.5 mile, Easy terrain. Accessible with assistance. Meet in front of park headquarters on Red Jacket Road in Calumet. Tour ends at the Calumet Theatre.

Junior Ranger Program
Learning about history can be fun! Children ages 8-12 can join a ranger for a program filled with engaging activities. All children should wear sturdy shoes and bring water to drink. 1.5 hours and .5 mile. Meet in front of park headquarters on Red Jacket Road in Calumet.

Quincy Ruins Walk
Join a ranger for a guided walk through the surface ruins of the Quincy Copper Mining Company. 1.5 hours, 1 mile, Varied terrain. Not accessible. Meet at the Quincy Mine & Hoist Gift Shop.
 
Ranger-guided programs may be canceled due to adverse weather or staffing shortages caused by emergencies. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Once the scene of buslting industry, the Quincy shaft-rock house at the number 2 shaft and accompanying hoist house sit silent today.  

Did You Know?
Despite ups and downs in copper production and prices, the Quincy Mining Company on Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula was able to pay its investors dividends nearly every year from 1862 to 1920, earning it the nickname "Old Reliable." The company closed in 1945 after nearly 100 years of operation.
