In the dark and off we go on this day of 20+ trades going to my favorite buoy.Along the way we took a big aku hit in the blind and Pete landed a 20 pound aku.  At the buoy we jigged and caught a few small shibi and ran one live. When we baited it was a long time before we had a bite but when we did it was a big shibi and Jim landed a nice 50 pounder.  Then we had another hookup and one more big shibi came aboard. on our way in we found an open school and Scot baited up a nice 20 pound mahi and we got it. Then 2 miles out we had a marlin slam the center and come off, bummer. In the harbor only Devon and James were bold enough to eat mahi eyeballs gladly, good going men you guys did great and were a pleasure to have aboard. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right on time and off we go with 20+ trades going to my favorite buoy. Along the way we saw a few whales in the distance. At the buoy we baited but got no hits so we jigged and we caught some small shibi and ran one live. No hits so we set up and trolled out, where we found a big bird pile and caught one aku. Then we found a small floater and Scot baited up 3 nice mahi and they all came aboard, these guys did great on these fish. Back in the harbor Both John and Omar ate mahi eyeballs gladly. John and Annette are the only customers of mine that have fished on all three of the Kuuloa Kai's so far, and have gone 5 times over the years, great to see you folks again. Aloha Capt Rusty

At first light off we go on this day of 20+ kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. Along the way we had a mystery hit that peeled some line and came off. At the buoy we took a double 10 pound shibi and landed them both. When we came back with bait we only had a slam and no hookup, so we set up and trolled to another buoy. There we baited and hooked 2 nice mahi and they came aboard. Next pass and we hook a shibi and it gives Peg a good fight on light line. Then we jigged and caught 2 small shibi and a small aku and ran the aku live. On our way in we had a mahi slam the rigger and a big bully was jumping around, but it came off on the way in, bummer. These folks did great on this rough day. Aloha Capt Rusty

Then we baited and had 2 hits but no hookups, so we jigged and caught 2 aku and 2 small shibi. Then we set up and trolled to another buoy where we took a hit and landed another shibi. We came back with bait and saw a mahi but could not get it to eat anything we threw at it, bummer. Back in the harbor both Craig and Jon ate shibi eyeballs gladly good going you guys did great. It was a clear morning as we got going with 15 kph winds going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited and had a few bites before we hooked a 12 pound shibi and we got it. Lots more baiting and no hits so we jigged and caught a few more small aku and shibi. Then we hooked a bigger shibi and Brandon landed a nice 22 pound shibi on real light line. Then 2 more mid size shibi bit and we landed them too. Good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Then we jigged and caught a few small aku and shibi and ran an aku and a shibi live. When we baited Scot hooked a 10 pound shibi and Audie landed it. Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  The Enright Family Brett, Carson, Zachary, Kimberly caught 1 mahi 3 shibi and 2 aku for a fun day
We had 15 kph trades this morning as we headed for my next favorite buoy. Along the way we had a marlin strike that screamed out 250 yards of line and never jumped once, Brett reeled it in all the way to 10 yards to go and it shook it's head and came off, bummer. At the bouy we baited and Scot hooked a small mahi and we got it. Then the rigger took off with a big shibi that took out 300 yards of line going straight down, Brett worked it all the way to can you guess 10 yards to go and it broke line after a 40 minute fight. We then got a 10 pound shibi and a few aku on bait too. On the way in we had another marlin hit that knoked the rigger down and hit it one more time but never got the hook. In the harbor Brett and Zachary both ate mahi eyeballs, good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

Chris came in on a cruise ship so we got going at 9:30 on this day of 10 kph south winds going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited and Scot had a few hits but no hookups, so we jigged and caught 3 small aku and ran one live. When we baited again no hits at all. On our way in we found a few bird piles and had a small mahi hit the rigger but it came right off. There were some more birds but no fish, Chris did real good with what we caught today. Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Rick King , Travis Ells, Rich Casey, Lonnie Ells caught 2 mahi 5 shibi and 6 aku for an action packed day of fishing
In the dark of 6 off we go on this day of 10 kph variable winds going to my next favorite buoy. Single humpback sighted 5 miles out, first of the season for us. At the buoy we baited and Scot hooked a shibi and a small mahi on the first pass, and we landed them both. A few more small shibi and then we got a big one on and Rich landed a nice 80 pounder, a great fight on 80. Then the porpoise came and we had to jig and we caught some small aku. When we baited again we hooked one more big shibi and Lonnie battled a 73 pounder to the boat in about 20 minutes. On our way in we had a mahi hit the rigger and Lonnie lands a nice mahi too. Back in the harbor everyone except Rick gladly ate a shibi eyeball, good going men, you were a pleasure to have aboard. Aloha Capt Rusty
