The Patagonia region, located in the southern end of South America, embraces partially the territory of Argentina and Chile. Since it was discovered, the single mention of its name wakes up the fascination of the distant, virgin and unknown. In Argentina the Patagonia expands to the south of the river Colorado between the Andes and the Atlantic ocean. The
Perito Moreno glacier
One of the biggest
tourist attractiveness in the planet. Located 80 kilometers to the
west
of ‘El Calafate’,
by the provincial route #11 inside the Glaciers National Park,
on the lake Argentino. The road travels
several estancias (country properties/ranches) and
during the
itinerary
the several hills are observed where
there are natural posts of gumps. But one of the most exciting places
in the journey
is the Curve of the Sighs, from where it is
obtained a front view of the glacier and its beautiful environment.
The tour finishes in the balconies of the Perito Moreno glacier where
the tourists usually spend hours observing that imposing mass of ice
65 meters high with floes floating around. The show that offers the
nature in that place is so majestic that most people feel overwhelmed.
This trip can also be carried out embarked, traveling the arm ‘Rico’ until coming closer to the glacier among the floes that come off of the same one, being able to admire the height of the walls of ice from the level of the lake. An excellent navigation on the northern part is also available on this great excursion and it is possible to do the so called 'Mini trekking' which consists in an ice trek that lasts 3 hours over this extraordinary glacier. |
