Web Developer/Analyst (PHP/MySQL)
VKI Studios, a leading internet marketing and website usability firm and Google Analytics Authorized Consultant in downtown Vancouver, is looking for a motivated and talented individual for the position of Web Developer/Analyst to work in our fun and diverse working environment.
Boasting an impressive client roster that includes YouTube, Telus, Citrix, Virgin Money, and Chrysler and a proven track record of success. Our mission is to drive more targeted traffic to clients' websites and to ensure those websites gain the highest possible conversion rates in their industry.
The successful candidate is a senior programmer with advanced knowledge and experience with Javascript, PHP 4+, and MySQL 4+. Working in a close-knit development team, they should enjoy working with a variety of tools and have a keen interest in building on existing skills using exciting and cutting edge technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Implement various analytics and testing solutions, such as Google Analytics, Google Website Optimizer and Omniture Site Catalyst
- Gather necessary requirements and specifications to build and deliver quality web applications
- Provide accurate estimates of time and work required for each project and document processes
- Design, develop, implement and maintain new web applications and features in existing applications based on specific requirements
- Perform database design and development
- Conduct updates and bug fixes when required
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior and mid-level developers
Skills & Experience:
- Advanced skills with Javascript
- Excellent use of OOP and Design Patterns
- Familiarity with regular expressions and version control systems such as Subversion or CVS
- Experience consulting with client to translate needs into specific requirements for project
- Knowledge of entire product lifecycle from scoping to maintenance
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and solve complex technical problems
- Ability to remain highly organized while working on multiple projects
Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of PHP 4 and 5, MySQL 4 and 5
- 5 + years of experience building and tuning database-driven websites
- Degree or recognized technical diploma in Computer Science or related field
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal relations
- Detail oriented, analytical thinker
- An interest in web analytics and online marketing optimization
- Familiarity with other programming languages such as ColdFusion or .NET an asset
- Familiarity with MS SQL Server an asset
- Familiarity with Search Engine Optimization strategies that pertain to how a site is programmed also an asset
