World Class Costa Rica Tarpon Fishing

The one place to do it from is the Rio Colorado Lodge located on the Rio Colorado River here in Costa Rica. Tarpon are the King of all gamefish and hooking one compares to no other fishing experience. The average Costa Rica Tarpon ranges from 80-207 lb.. Anglers often jump 25 or more Tarpon on a day's trip. Artificial Lures are used and when they hit and the hook is set you will be just amazed at their Ariel jumping ability. The calm waters of the lagoons and jungle rivers hold many giant Tarpon and World Class Snook. The best surf fishing and trolling in the waters near the river mouths is in the late fall, and that's when the monsters from 25 pounds on up are usually caught. You're also likely to tie into a big jack crevalle, bonita dorado or mackerel while fishing in the sea. Boats are equipped with top of the line Conventional and spinning outfits spooled with 150 to 200 yds on heavy duty seven foot rods with 12 to 25 pound test line and the Costa Rica Snook Fishing requires a lighter combination of line between 6-12 lb.

Rio Colorado Lodge Guides are all renowned local fisherman that know the Costa Rica Fishing grounds intimately and all speak fluent English.

The Rio Colorado tarpon fishing Lodge is located on the Banks of the Colorado River where the river feeds to the ocean where the fishing action is usually the hottest. There are 18 Air Conditioned Rooms which give the Rio Colorado Lodge a Unique Costa Rica Tarpon Fishing experience. All rooms also have private bath, hot showers and daily maid service. Laundry Service is also provided. Meals here are outstanding as raved about by most guests. With Family Style, all you can eat Meals before and after a day of Costa Rica Tarpon Fishing. With a great bar that provides an atmosphere for fun and provides a place to talk about your daily fishing adventures. The bar is well stocked with top shelf liquors and Ice Cold Beer. Happy Hour is from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., when all rum drinks and soft drinks are "on the house". The Lodge also includes a Recreation room with Game Tables and Satellite T.V. Also on site is a Top of the Line tarpon and snook Tackle Shop. Also not to be missed is the on-site Zoo with many exotic rescued Costa Rican Animals.

Costa Rica Tarpon and Snook can be caught year round here at the Rio Colorado Lodge. The peak season is considered January through May for the rivers and lagoons and the fall months the sea is calm and the tarpon migrate to the ocean resulting in great action along the coast. In other words, the fishing is good year round.

A fishing license is required on all charters. $ 24.- per person and is valid for 1 year. Cost is not included in Charters Price.
