As a dynamic, nonprofit organization dedicated to maintaining the health of Kenai Peninsula’s watersheds, the Kenai Watershed Forum (KWF) is well-poised to serve the peninsula and the State of Alaska with increasing effectiveness both today and far into the future.
To realize our full potential, we need to continue expanding and improving our programs and infrastructure. Embracing our mission to work together for healthy watersheds, we are launching a capital campaign to support the renovation of a building that will meet the growing needs of our organization for many years to come. The Rasmuson Foundation grants
$50,000 to KWF
The Rasmuson Foundation Board of Directors met in early November in Anchorage and awarded $5,658,612 to 12 organizations through grants and investments, and voted to extend support for two programs managed by the Foundation, including $500,000 for five years’ additional support for the Pick. Click. Give. Program. The Kenai Watershed Forum was among the twelve, receiving a $50,000 grant for our building project!

The ceremonial groundbreaking event for our new building was held on Friday, June 11, 2010 in conjunction with the Kenai River Festival. We are humbled and honored by the continued outpouring of suppport for our efforts on the Kenai Peninsula.
Construction has begun and we are looking foward to keeping you posted on the progress.

We appreciate their generosity, community spirit, and confidence in KWF to continue providing quality watershed restoration, research, and education programs to the residents and visitors of the Kenai Peninsula.

Chevron USA Inc. grants $100,000 to KWF!
We are pleased to announce that KWF has been awarded $100,000 from Chevron USA Inc. through a special grant program from their Corporate Community Engagement Advisors, the Initiative Triple E: Engage – Execute – Empower. The Kenai Watershed Forum’s application won unanimous approval from Chevron’s corporate selection committee and was the only North America recipient of the grant. Other recipients, of whom there were six, were awarded world-wide.
These funds will be used by KWF to build capacity, enhance efficiency, and improve the economy and environment by helping us secure a long-term presence in the community. Through the renovation of an historic building in downtown Soldotna that will serve as KWF's headquarters, we are strengthening our roots on the Kenai Peninsula.
Wells Fargo gives $10,000 to KWF!
KWF is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Wells Fargo for our Capital Building Campaign. Wells Fargo is one of the first corporate supporters to commit to the River Champion level. We are pleased to bring Wells Fargo on as a partner and look forward to working with them.
Wells Fargo established a $350,000 annual environmental contribution matching fund in 2007 to support local community investments made with environmental organizations such as Kenai Watershed Forum. In Alaska, Wells Fargo has provided a total of $17,000 in environmental matching funds to Alaska Botanical Garden, Anchorage Neighborhood Housing, Cook Inlet Housing Authority, Eagle River Nature Center, Kenai Watershed Forum and Valley Community for Recycling Solutions.
"The health of our environment affects the health of our communities and our long-term business success," said Judith Crotty, Wells Fargo Alaska community development manager. "Our $10,000 investment in the Kenai Watershed Forum is one way we are working with local community groups to conserve Alaska's bountiful natural resources and educate Alaskans about the importance of environmental stewardship. We applaud Kenai Watershed Forum for their exceptional community collaboration and youth education efforts."
