AddThis Now Supports the Google +1 Button
June 1st, 2011 by Greg Cypes in UpdatesToday we are excited to be a launch partner for Google’s +1 button for
websites. As the largest sharing network, we clearly understand how to
process social sharing data at massive scale. Publishers now have the option
to easily install the +1 button via AddThis.com, our WordPress Plugin, and
our client API.
Once you’ve installed our code on your site, analytics on the efficacy of
the +1 button will start showing immediately via your analytics dashboard.
These analytics will be integrated with your other social sharing analytics
to give you a complete view into the performance of your content.
The +1 button helps your content stand out in Google search results by
giving your visitors the ability to recommend your content to others quickly
and easily. The more chances you give your users to +1 your content, the
more likely your URLs show up in search results with +1 annotations, thus
helping users discover results recommended by their friends and other
contacts.
Learn how to get +1 for your website by visiting the +1 features page.

And how do we get the +1 button in small size?
That means that we’ll have to install two buttons, Add this and +1Google?
Yep! I had it too
Making it even more compelling to just use the one plugin instead of several. Nicely on the ball, chaps. Thank you.
wrong size thumbnails. can you guys fix so that the thumbnail fits the 16×16 thumbnails? looks kinda awful right now: i.imgur.com/S98HT.jpg
Good news! Google rules
The Google +1 button works similarly to our Facebook Like and Tweet buttons in that you can specify different configurations based on Google’s API.
For instance, if you want to have a button that’s around the same size as the others (15px tall) you do this -
<a class="addthis_button_google_plusone" g:plusone:size="small" rel="nofollow"></a>Hey emrecnl, check out our response to Phat^Trance!
@Carmina, You don’t have to install two separate buttons, you can install them together. http://www.addthis.com/features/google-plus1-button
Will google +1 button available for Joomla? As a plugin or a module?
Kori, your post seems to be missing the answer…

How do you customize the size?
I was pretty excited this morning to log into one of the blogs I maintain to notice the update was awaiting me. I was honestly hoping the +1 button would be with the share set group with Twitter and Facebook, not just by itself. No big deal. I could do one set at the top and the +1 at the bottom.
@Kori Hill: what response did you give to Phat^Trance, i didn’t understand!! you said :
“For instance, if you want to have a button that’s around the same size as the others (15px tall) you do this:”
you do what???
Kori Hill, thanks for the answer. The link doesn’t work, to much people in there?
Now, it works!
Same size problem that Path^Trance and the answer of Kori Hill is cut
Kori,
Looks like your reply to Phat^Trance was cut off.
“For instance, if you want to have a button that’s around the same size as the others (15px tall) you do this:”
Sorry, guys! The comment has been updated w/ the code.
Hi there,
Just added the piece of code to my current script… and nothing showed up. Any idea how to fix it?
After adding the code and reload the blog, I tried to read any post. And the blog keeps calling the URL http://ssl.gstatic.com
Please allow me to rephrase my last comment when there ISN’T a truck outside my office blowing gas fumes at me…
The settings page shows the “+1″ button just fine, but, while the “Share” button shows up on each blog entry, the “+1″ button does not.
Confused, but no longer dazed…
As always, thanks to Addthis team.
Also give @twitterusername changing option for WP plugin.
Hi guys,
I’d worked about half an hour to setup..now it works..
rulezzz…
thanks kori..
I’m really wondering how users will accept and use the +1 button, i dont see any chance for google to really get into this field without any direct use for the users right away.
It works now.
At the moment, it really depends on the browser whether the +1 button is properly rendered or not. The +1 buttons don’t seem to appear on many versions of IE, or on Safari (v. 4.1.3). No problems with Firefox or Opera, and I’d expect it to work on Chrome. IE-compatibility is necessary: IE may not be a great browser, but it is still used by a very large number of people.
Congrats on being a partner for the #1 button with Google. I am sure it will be a huge success! But I have to echo others question here, How do you customize the size of the button.
Thank you
we used the method by Kori
and it worked perfect, smaller size that mimics the other Add This buttons!
@aaqil – ability to configure @username is coming soon to the WP plugin!
@DroidLust – if you are still having problems can you do me a favor and post them to our tech support forum? http://www.addthis.com/forum
Hey @giann – if you are still having issues, please do me a favor and head to the tech support forum – http://www.addthis.com/forum. There is lots of +1 discussion going on in there.
This may be a dumb question…but…can I assume that once this button is added to the toolbar, a person is “+ one-ing” whatever page they happen to be on and not just the site as a whole? Even if the toolbar is in an include? Or in a right or left column?
This is good news. We already use the +1 Button and also have some layout-issues with it. But netherless it’s good to have it already on the page. Thanks.
I tried to paste the script of Add This to my blog but i couldn`t. There was written that my html is broken and I have to fix it
What is it and what shall Ido?
@chaya ben-dor Can you do me a favor and post your issue in our tech support forum? http://www.addthis.com/forum Thanks!
I will be rolling out the Google +1 button on my site. In addition to content referrals, I believe the +1 button adds SEO value to your website.
Look forward to your comments…
Hello, thanks Kori. I’ve added the g+1 button with facebook’s and twitter’s one, adjusting size to ‘medium’ and worked well on chrome and firefox 3.6, not in IE6:
[DIV class='addthis_toolbox addthis_default_style']
[a class='addthis_counter addthis_pill_style'][/a]
[a class='addthis_button_facebook_like'
fb:like:layout='button_count'][/a]
[a class='addthis_button_tweet'][/a]
[a class='addthis_button_google_plusone'
g:plusone:size='medium' rel='nofollow'][/a]
[/DIV]
none of the links in any of the comments work!. I tried http://www.addthis.com/features/google-plus1-button and http://www.addthis.com/forum, but the pages are not there. Could someone please post the full code that. Below is the code we are using. What/where do I add to it to put in Google 1 pass?
var addthis_config = {“data_track_clickback”:true};
Stephanie, so you’re not seeing anything when you go to those pages?
Here’s the code that you add to include the Google +1 button. Try this link…

Great of you to offer the Google +1 feature, but it looks like quite a few people are having trouble with this. Any chance you could publish a complete description of how this works and how to overcome the most common problems?
Thanks
