Typical FatPort Setup

A Typical FatPort Setup

We can only say we're effectively doing our job if you're never confronted by the technology - but just to show off the system, this is what a typical FatPort setup looks like.

Laptops and PDAs - The only piece of technology you need to access our system is your laptop/PDA and an Wi-Fi 802.11b wireless card. These cards are inexpensive and available everywhere - in fact, 800,000 wireless cards are sold each month throughout the world. Many new laptops are shipped with wireless cards built right in as part of a standard package. If you need help setting up your wireless card, click here.
FatPoint Access Point - Just like in a cordless telephone, the FatPoint sends and receives wireless Internet signal from your laptop. In most locations, the access point is contained within the FatPoint Authentication Server, a tiny box located in a cupboard or under the counter.
FatPoint Authentication Server - The FatPoint acts as the gatekeeper to the Internet. This machine captures your request for service when you first open up your web browser, and sends you our login screen. The FatPoint Server is entirely self-contained, allowing anyone to become a FatSite. in minutes.
WAN Drop - The WAN (Wide Area Network) Drop is the point where the high speed connection to the Internet, typically a DSL line, enters the location. Through the WWW Secure Tunnels, the FatPoint sends your login requests and purchasing information to our FatCheck servers. Once connected, you can access the web, your email, or get to your company's internal network via a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
World Wide Web Secure Tunnels - All transactions with FatPort are done through a secure "tunnel" via the World Wide Web. Data sent over this link is as secure as at the banks' websites at 128-bit encryption. Read more about our security measures here.
FatCheck - FatCheck is the mothership authentication server located at Network Operations Control. It processes all login requests and purchases then gives the FatPoint the green light to let you surf freely. Once you've logged in, and connected to FatPort, you are free to surf!
FatCodes - Just in case you're not comfortable with purchasing time online, you can also buy FatCode cards at a number of authorized dealers. These cards are available in 60-minute, 4 hour, daily and monthly increments.
