Parrot Heads Party With a Purpose

Performers at the 9th Annual New England Parrot
Head Convention
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) was
selected as one of two charities to benefit from the 9th Annual New England
Parrot Head Convention in February of 2004.
Each winter, hundreds of Parrot Heads (a.k.a. Jimmy Buffett fans) from
New England states flock together to escape the winter blues. The result?
A three-day retreat of music, dancing and good times centered around Buffett’s
music and the laid-back tropical lifestyle his music has come to symbolize.
In February 2004, the Parrot Head Club of Connecticut, hosted this event,
which drew more than 500 participants. But, it was more than just a party.
It was a party with a purpose. This generous group raised more than $30,000
to support NCMEC. And, Jimmy Buffett’s charitable foundation, Singing
for Change, kicked in another $10,000 to bring the total contribution
to $40,000.
NCMEC toasts the Parrot Heads for turning their event into a fabulous
fundraiser for NCMEC.
