The Good: the Freedom of Information laws at the US federal level and in the US states maintain that most government records must be made available to the public. In addition to that, by 2012 a large portion of public records is available for online access and searching.
The Bad: due to technical challenges and legislative differences between different states, a single unified database of US public records doesn't exist yet. Worse, most public records aren't unified even at state level! As a rule, each of more than 3000 US counties maintains its own county recorder, who is responsible for maintaining, preserving and providing access to county records.
Our Mission: make your search for public records as quick and painless as possible by finding, compiling and keeping an up-to-date list containing every one database of public records available online.
