Plan A Trip

Sea Kayaking

On very large bodies of water it is very important to use sea kayaks or touring kayaks so that you have the flotation chambers that will keep the boat afloat should it become necessary. Sea kayaks are decked boats with storage compartments that are also used as air chambers for flotation and in which the paddler wears a spay skirt to keep out water. You can go into and are much safer in big waters in a sea kayak than in a recreational kayak or a canoe. Therefore, all of our trips on the Great Lakes utilize sea kayaks. Learn More.

Canoeing

Our rivers are clean, clear, pristine and offer many opportunities to see wildlife, cool geography, and the fauna of the northern forest.

Canoes, in general, are not normally used on the Great Lakes but instead on the small lakes and rivers. We offer both canoe rentals and guided canoe expeditions on several rivers in the Upper Peninsula and in southern Ontario. The rivers we use are the Escanaba, Michigamme, Indian, Au Train, Ontaganon, Paint, Two-Hearted, Fox, Manistique, and in Canada the Batchawana and Sand Rivers. Learn More.
