Hindsight Fishing's Boat
Hindsight Fishing's boat is a 26' Hourston Glascraft Coast Guard Boat built to fish Swiftsure Bank. The boat was re-powered in 2008 with twin DF 140 Suzukis and a Yamaha 9.9 kicker in 2007. Dependability is very important to us, and these 140s are proven workhorses in our waters.
Our boat offers a heated cabin and a head (toilet). You will find our boat clean, comfortable, Coast Guard inspected and insured, with all safety equipment to Transport Canada standards.
Fishing Gear
We only use gear and baits that work. Most of the time we use natural baits like anchovies or herring, although we often use plugs and hootchies when fishing deeper waters. We use ultra light Fenwick rods fished off electric downriggers, with or without flashers. We recommend using our Islander single action "mooching" reels, so you can feel the fish actively fight... the blistered palms are just part of the fun! We also offer custom built halibut rods.
Things you need to bring
- We stress the need for two coolers for a group of four anglers, with each cooler at least 150 quarts.
- A camera is a must, even just a disposable.
- Rain gear -- I have gone whole seasons without donning a rain jacket, but in Port Renfrew you never know. We do have some rain gear on board, but you might want to bring some to be safe.
