Solid Waste Pick-Up Schedule

October - May: Pick-up is every Tuesday.

June - the 3rd Week of September: Pick-up is every Tuesday and Saturday.

Please note:

• Trash carts must be at the street by 6:00 a.m. on the pickup day.

• Carts on OCEAN BOULEVARD ONLY will be rolled back to the front of the house. 

• BAG the trash before putting it in the cart.

Additional garbage carts are available for yearly rental through Waste Industries. Please call Waste Industries at (910) 253-4177 for more information or to request your additional garbage cart.

Rental homes need to make sure they have the proper amount of garbage carts to meet Town ordinance. All rental homes need to have at least one trash cart per two bedrooms (example: 1 - 2 bedrooms - 1 cart, 3 - 4 bedrooms - 2 carts, 5 - 6 bedrooms - 3 carts). Click here to view the full ordinance.

Recycling Center

The Holden Beach recycling center is located near Town Hall at the end of Rothschild Street, adjacent to the water tower.  The container is commingled and the following items are accepted:

• Newspapers
• Magazines
• Aluminum cans
• Steel cans
• Bimetal cans
• Clear glass
• Brown glass food containers
• Green glass
• #1 - #7 plastics

Materials do not need to be separated when placed in recycling container. Please do not place your recyclables on the ground if the container is full. This creates a litter problem in the area. Homeowners should break all cardboard boxes down. This will allow more people to utilize the recycling center.

Curbside Recycling

Waste Industries is now offering curbside recycling for Town properties that desire to participate in the service; subject to a minimum of 100 participants applying. The service cost is $50.00 annually paid in advance to the Town of Holden Beach and consists of a 96 gallon cart that is emptied every other week. Yard Waste Service

Yard waste pick-up is provided twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of March, April, May, October, November and December.

Yard debris needs to be secured in a biodegradable bag or bundled in a maximum length of 5' and 50 pounds in weight. A total of ten items (bundles of brush/ limbs, bags) will be picked up by Waste Industries. Yard waste must be placed at the street for pick-up. No pick-ups will be made on vacant lots.

Yard waste can also be hauled to the landfill on Oxpen Road for a fee per truck load.
