AMTECH OFFICERS
President/Executive Director:
Joseph J. De Marco is founder of AMTECH and the National Marine Service EXPO (NMSE) trade show. Joe entered the marine industry in 1982 as the co-founder for Rapair, Inc. Later the company established the RCS Computer Systems (later to become MSHOP Software Inc.), and CDI Electronics divisions. Working closely with marine technicians on troubleshooting engine problems, Mr. De Marco has long recognized the importance of proper education when dealing with engines using sophisticated new technology, and the need for proper management. He also realizes that without strong marine service, both technically and management wise, the industry cannot succeed. He conducts a workshop at NMSE, "Management Training for Marine Businesses". His strong desire to bring the marine service community together has prompted the start of AMTECH.
Prior to entering the marine industry, Mr. De Marco originally from New York, worked in the electronics industry as Vice President of an electronics company for eight years, and brings more than 25 years experience in sales and marketing to AMTECH. He now resides in the Atlanta, GA area.
Vice President:
Todd Larson is an instructor for Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC) Marine Repair Technician Program located in Ashland, WI. While serving as a technician in Duluth, MN, Todd held technician, custom rigging, and service manager positions. He earned factory certified training or master technicians status for OMC, Evinrude, Mercury, MerCruiser, Volvo-Penta, and Ski-Doo snowmobiles. He teaches the advanced marine courses for WITC. He also teaches several coursed for AMTECH/MCTINA, conducts seminars for agencies such as the Wisconsin Department of Natural Recourses, and is self-employed during the summer as a technician running his mobile marine repair business. Todd has served on the AMTECH Board of Directors since 2002.
Todd has been a boat enthusiast all his life. He grew up near a small one man marine repair business and spent much time hanging around the shop. The shop owner cultivated Todd's curiosity, became a mentor and encouraged his interest. This sparked an ambition to make boat repair and maintenance his life's vocation, ultimately leading to teaching his skills to others and working to elevate the status of the marine service industry. Todd spends his free time bicycling, snow skiing and camping.
