BENGALURU: The planned bank strike by employees of public sector banks on September 26-27 has been called off, after the government acceded to some demands of the unions. Representatives from the four unions — AIBOA, AIBOC, NOBO and INBOC — met with finance secretary Rajeev Kumar.
Bank unions were assured that a high-power committee will be formed to look into issues, arising with the 10-bank planned mergers.
“Other issues discussed in the meeting included wage revision, demand for a five-day week, reduction of cash transaction hours, issues of retirees/pensioners and problems with cross-selling,” said AIBOA chairman Sunil Kumar.
Another concern of PSU employees was erosion of the merging banks’ identity.
