Other | In August 2005, Daniel Shirley won the bronze medal with mixed doubles partner Sara Runesten-Petersen at the Badminton World Championships. It was New Zealand's best result ever in badminton. Both Daniel and Sara have indicated though, that the Melbourne Commonwealth Games may be the last tournament the pair competes in together.
He pairs up with Runesten-Petersen in the mixed doubles and with John Gordon in men's doubles.
He won the 2005 New Zealand Badminton award for Senior Performance of the Year with his mixed doubles partner Sara Runesten-Petersen.
