ABOUT INVISION

Technology Overview

The CyberSound software audio architecture is based on high-end music synthesis designs that have been customized for the PC, and offers the highest quality audio at the lowest possible cost. By incorporating such features as Intelligent Scaling™, Dynamic Buffering™, and InVision's world-renowned sound library, CyberSound provides dramatic benefits over hardware implementations with minimal impact on CPU bandwidth. The company believes that CyberSound technology enables MIDI, instead of streaming digital audio, as the most compelling playback architecture for new media applications

The CyberSound user can set the amount of CPU and host RAM that will be utilized by CyberSound. With Intelligent Scaling™, CyberSound acts as a "good citizen" in the system and lowers the CPU load if the system requires more CPU-intensive activities like video or graphics, and the effect on audio quality is indistinguishable.

With Dynamic Buffering™, the user is no longer limited to the 128 General MIDI set of instruments that is packed into a one megabyte ROM in current hardware implementations. Unlimited sizes and numbers of CyberSound Musical Instruments can be stored on the hard disk and cached into system RAM as required which offers two advantages. First, more robust, better sounding instruments can be used for the particular piece of music. Second, instead of being limited to 128 General MIDI instruments, a virtual palette of thousands of CyberSound Musical Instruments can be used. Other unique features have been incorporated into CyberSound and InVision has applied for extensive patent protection.
