For many years I investigated strange phenomena. In 1984 I founded the Southern California Skeptics, a Southern California affiliate of CSICOP (the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal). I ran this organization successfully until a serious bout with leukemia in 1990 forced me to abandon it. Here are a few of my published popular articles on pseudoscience, psychic and paranormal phenomena, skepticism, and the scientific method. Many of these articles originally appeared in the Santa Monica News and in the science section of the Los Angeles Times. Other articles originally appeared in the Skeptical Inquirer, Free Inquiry, Freethought Today, and LASER. After several years of investigating this type of stuff, I found out that scientists are not closed-minded, they just get bored. It's always the same mistakes over and over again.

I also edited two books on the philosophy of Bertrand Russell. These can be ordered through Prometheus Press.
