Starcraft is Blizzard's upcoming real-time strategy game, where three species fight for survival on the edge of the galaxy: the vagabond Terrans, who have managed to survive by pillaging countless worlds with their great mobile factories; the mysterious Protoss, an ancient psychic race; and the nightmarish Zerg, a collection of ravenous biological predators. As the military leader for your species, you must gather the resources you need to train and expand your military to accomplish your goals, be it freedom or galactic domination.

The conflict will rage across a variety of terrain, from the barren wastelands of the Terran colonies, to the surfaces of fragmented orbital space platforms, to the dense jungles of the Protoss' own homeworld, Aiur. With their weapons and minions ranging from the most advanced starfighters to feral, genetically altered beasts, the Terrans, Protoss, and Zerg will stop at nothing to insure the survival of their species.

Starcraft will also allow games with up to eight players over networks and the Internet, with easy one-button access to Battle.net, Blizzard's free on-line gaming service. Want to know how good you are? Battle.net will feature built-in ranking and ladder systems, so you can compare your skills to players from around the world.
