What's different between Adobe FrameMaker 5.5 and FrameMaker 5.5.3?

Adobe FrameMaker version 5.5.3 software has been released. In this update, we have fixed a number of problems involving documents that contain sideheads or multiple columns in addition to anchored objects such as footnotes, tables, or anchored frames.

All documents saved in version 5.5 will reflow (be reformatted) when opened in version 5.5.3. This means you may see alert messages asking you to save changes when closing a document, even though you made no other changes. (This may happen even to online documents included with FrameMaker.)

On the Macintosh, special characters in dialog boxes (such as \t in an autonumber format) will now be displayed correctly.

When saving as HTML, the mappings of numbered and bulleted lists have been improved.

The 216 colors in the new Online library are "Web-safe," which means they will be displayed identically on any platform. If you want colors to work well on the World Wide Web when you save as HTML, choose View > Color > Definitions and then choose Online from the Color Libraries pop-up menu.

The Windows version has an updated GIF export filter, which no longer incorrectly makes white-colored parts of the image transparent.
