[ arrow ]  The Commodore 64

Red Sector was founded in the year of our lord, 1985 by Bill Best, Kangol Kid, Mr.Zeropage, Greg and a few other talented American/Canadian computer fanatics. At the end of 1985, Irata teamed up with the Americans and together with Mr.Zeropage, he gave birth to the European division of RSI (Red Sector Incorporated) in which PBA joined shortly after.

So far so good. At this time, groups like Teeside Cracking Service, Triad, Fairlight, DCS, Scottish Cracking Crew, 1001-Crew, Future Projects, Dynamic Duo, FSW, Danish Gold, Hotline, Radwar, ECA, Jabba, Commando Frontiers, Headbanger, Ultraforce and SCC, all known for their marvellous activities on the Commodore 64, were our most prominent contacts.

These days were truly amazing. Competition was fair, everybody respected one another and we all had the time of our lives.

Bill Best from America was the one supplying most of the originals for RSI at this time, due to the fact that Irata, PBA and MZP were the only members of our European section. Nevertheless, MZP cracked a few minor games every now and then and we were actually more than happy about the current situation.

We were also in the lucky position to obtain originals from other groups which were not able to crack the games by themselves - thus resulting in a row of splendid releases hitting the scene.

RSI gained respect throughout the scene, known for high quality releases, friendship and for respecting the work of the our fellow sceners. It was the time of truce, no disrespect, no dissapointments.

Shortly after the breakthrough of the C64 scene, many groups got their hands on modems, resulting in faster spreading of releases and easier communication. These days RSI actually ran the first ever Canadian pirate bulletin board system which some years later were the Red Sector & Bamiga Sector One Amiga headquarters.

[ arrow ]  The Amiga

In the summer of 1986, PBA, MZP, Bill Best, Irata and ECA bought the Amiga 1000. MZP, Bill Best and Irata decided rather quickly to form the Amiga division of Red Sector. A couple of cool cracks were released not long after the birth of our Amiga section, all presented by MZP and PBA.

In the beginning of 1987, HQC brought Red Sector intro the world of demo-making by releasing our first ever intro. This was actually just a small bootintro, but it sure seemed to be a lot bigger back then. Following in the footsteps of HQC, Twilight released our second introduction not long after with absolutely kicking music by Karsten Obarski, the coder and mastermind of the old and famous Soundtracker.

The Amiga scene just kept growing bigger and bigger and new groups popped up everywhere. Among some of the legends reigning back then we could mention Bamiga Sector One, Skyline, Kent Team, Bitstoppers, Ackerlight, Defjam, Star Frontiers, Jungle Command, Eaglesoft, Trilogy, The Movers and HQC. The Amiga was to be a new start for the scene - The start of a better and bigger scene.

As we decided to concentrate completely on the Amiga these days, the C64 section died, but in 1988 Mr.President and Mr.Cursor decided to rebuild it. To tell you the truth, this wasn't actually a big success, but then again, it was mainly done for fun.

Later in the year of 1987, we were lucky enough to make the aquaintance of some of the most talented sceners ever, SLL, PBA, BitArts, Flash, DAG, Romeo Knight and Onyx. These guys teamed up with RSI immediately, making a fine addition to our already glorious group.

At the end of 1987, we got in touch with Ghenna / Defjam, and before we knew it, the first cooperation in the Amiga scene was a fact - Red Sector teamed up with Defjam. This cooperation brought the scene a few high quality cracks and an awesome Amiga demonstration before breaking up. We were once again on our own...

In the year of 1988, Mr.Zeropage and Irata were busted by the police for some heavy cracking and distribution activities. RSI followed the destiny of these 3 brave men and stopped it's activities for a while. This was a time of horror in the Amiga scene. Many of the most talented crackers, suppliers and heads of many major groups were brought in by the police. MZP stopped his scene activities forever.

After some months of silence and recovery, Onyx got in touch with TCC and they decided to join RSI again. We didn't actually crack much after the big busts, but this gave us some time to organize the group and hit the scene even harder on a later stage.

At this stage Delta and TCC formed the Amiga Demo section of RSI. 3/4 of a year later, the RSI Megademo, still seen upon as one of the best demonstrations in the history of the Amiga was ready to blast the scene - We ended number 1 at the Tristar party in Holland. At this party we also got to know Carnivore, Flynn, Malzam Knacksoft and all the other members of Tristar while a lot of groups and sceners wanted to sign up with us due to the success we had with our Megademo.

Red Sector obtained a very good reputation in the Demo scene after this party and our success seemed to never end.

1990 was the best year - Delta coded the Cebit '90 demonstration concidered to be one of the best one-part demos in the scene, we released News On Tour - Our own disk-based magazine and a few other splendid productions hit the masses. Then the big thing happened, giving you TRSi, the group you know today...

[ arrow ]  TRSI is born

Later in the year of 1990, one of the most important parties in the scene was held - The Silents & Red Sector Summer Conference in Denmark. At this party we decided to join forces with Tristar, thus giving birth to what we know as TRSI today (Tristar & Red Sector Incorporated). On the same day, Subzero and Metallica buildt Skid Row - Known to many of you as one of the most prominent cracking groups ever.

A lot of people left the cooperation and a lot of new ones signed up, but the essence was the same - the founders and the trendsetters were still there.
